I should clarify this picture, several people PM'd me about the suspension. The torque arm is not pictured yet because my block is still at the machine shop and I need it to make the arm the correct length. Torque arms are on 3rd generation Camaros, it uses two trailing arms and one arm that locates on the pinion and goes up to the u-joint at the transmission.

That inner body frame runs up and under the window making a package tray like shelf the fuel cell will mount under it.....so its actually above the axle and behind.

I've got 7 of them.....and now building a new chassis for my chopped 31 A coupe that I hope to have rolling by the end of the month, and maybe on the road this summer if all goes well.

I think I found the right car for me...I'll never have another hot rod than a Model A....unbelievably, they still seem to get hauled out of barns from time to time....

you guys are proof positive that they make a fine hot rod.

Mine's not quite "in the works" except in the sense that TRUE hot rods are never done....next step is either paint, chop it a couple of inches or sell/trade and move onto the next project - probably a roadster.

This is about how far I am right now (April 12th) - after about 60 hours of wet sanding and polishing (last January during -42 degree temperatures with the shop heater going full blast).

I bolted some mags up to the chassis a week or two ago.

The polishing rag is holding the door from marking the B pillar. No door bumpers installed yet.

The reflection of a future stude truck project. The bright red spot is were I tried blocking the flash with my thumb.

I laid the flames out about 2 months ago just before we sprayed the last coat of epoxy primer/sealer.

I wanted the last coat of sealer sprayed on in black to darken any tones of the future red paint.

    Then.....,

The actual (color) paint code was a Chrysler red,

The flame job was laid out from a photocopy of the pics from about 2 months earlier (pics above).

After we were done color sanding, we shot two coats of clear over the red paint and scuffed the clear to give the flames something to bite onto.

We used a pounce wheel and blue chalk to mirror the image to the opposite side of the body.

The flames are a purple pearl.

Still a little early for pics at this point. I've started on a '31 frame. Have the motor mounts in and partially boxed. I've got a Ford 8" and dropped front axle. Engine is early 350 and have found a Saginaw 4 speed for it...I've gathered several other parts, and of course it will be running a Rebel Wire harness, but no body as yet. Looking forward to getting back on it now that all the other projects are done.

I have a 29 coupe that is in the VERY early stages. So far, more gathering parts than anything! I have the body (already with a VIN and title too), an 8.8 Ford rear axle, all the replacement sheet metal, and a running 331 hemi that I just pulled out of a 53 Town and Country wagon. I suppose this project will take me forever, but when it is driveable, it will be worth it! :D
