Current photos of old drive ins ( restaurants that is).

  1. Earlier today I had the idea for this thread. Now don’t get me wrong, I love old photos of these things, however upon seeing them I have to wonder what they look like now or if they still exist. With that said, I give you exhibit A. IMG_1031.JPG I apologize for the OT vehicle in the photo, some people have no class.

Here's the Purple Penguin in NJ, with my friend's '41 and my '40. They used to have regular car shows here. Not sure I'd order the shrimp... pp.jpg

Early 1960's Miami Florida had a lot of drive inns, all the car hop food too your car are gone, but there are a few places we stopped at to eat back then, still same place an look like they did, with the same great food we got back then, even now! So for sure ,stop for goody's as often as I can. Pizza or hot dogs an a ice cream place I can't find pic, maybe add later.
Frankie's Pizza has been doing great pizza starting in 1955. Shorty's BBQ has stayed the same great eats from 1951. Casola's opened in the same place as a great sub shop had been for a long time before, though new Name in about 80. Arbetter's Hot Dogs open in 1959 an still puts out great dogs.

When I visited the Reading Air show in PA a while back, I enjoyed eating at Dave's Diner, Adamstown.
Lots of antique places nearby, including Mad Hatters Antique Mall, (once a hat factory) in a nice old building opposite the Diner.
