Anyone know anything about this car. I do know it’s a 62 Thunderbird with 68-69 Torino fast back top grafted to it. Would like to know who built and any significant details.
Guys and gals I really would like to know who built her, any additional pics someone might have found on the webisphere or otherwise.
Just to get this out of the way. This is not a photoshop! The car exist so let’s not be lazy and ***ume… I read an article on the car but lost track of that article and haven’t been able to find it again. So if you have seen this car let me know.
James Laga did the photoshop and some one built a model. He didn't know the name to give credit for the model.
The inner web definitely can be deceiving. I stand corrected here. Shame it doesn’t exist. So I guess preparations are now underway for the real deal. Bird in hand and Torino top has been procured.
You can tell this is photoshopped because you don't see the p***enger side B pillar, which should be visible. The real fly in the ointment is the bullet Birds have curved tempered side gl*** which is impossible to modify, so that leaves you with the option of either no side gl*** or making them out of lexan. Or somehow converting to flat gl***.
Blue bird you presented is sporting a 1961 Ford Starliner roof. The Maroon car appears to be the 1963 Thunderbird Italien concept car done as a design study for Ford.
If I were building this, I'd look long and hard at using the Torino door and quarter window gl***, even if I had to make a custom vent wing window to get the length right. Might require using the inner door skins from the Torino doors to get the regulators in the right spot. I love the concept and I fully support it being built. The side gl*** might be tough but I'm sure it can be done, one way or another.
I don't think the Torino gl*** will be long enough unless you shift the whole roof forward and that will upset the proportions (plus door length issues?). To add insult to injury, it's also tempered and the Torino doesn't have a vent window at all. A conversion to flat gl*** should be doable so doing custom sizes would be relatively easy, the rest of the Ford car line stuck with flat gl*** until '65 so '60-64 full-size Ford/Merc hardtop window bits would be a good place to start. The '62-63 box tops would probably be the closest fit. Some quality time with a tape measure will tell the story. This would look better IMO than a '60-61 Starliner top.
