Not on par with you guys yet, but I haven't had mine long. You guys are definitely inspiration.

Big Wig I came across your website a few months back when I first got my roller and was looking for dies. Never even realized the possibilities.

    Thanks for the pointers guys.

Here's some of my panel work.

The first two are a fan shroud, inner fenders and a front tilt hood I did on a 65 belvedere.

the hext is a 32 sedan roof

The last is a 34 coupe floor I did

First post here but I have to say that the work displayed here is fantasic. I am just curious about any special techniques or dies people are using. Things like skateboard wheels?

I'm looking to upgrade from my hf bead roller to a powered roller, any recommendations for manufacturer and size.It also appears that the thinner width of the roller helps getting a sharper corner or point. The hf rollers are wide and run over them self when coming to a narrow point,I've used a urethane on the lower but the the hf starts to flex.

Get the biggest one you can afford. I have a 36" Mittler Bros with the industrial motor rated for 16-ga steel, and it is a bad-ass. I also have a Pro-Tools machine that I've made into a 42" throat, and I use it every day for the fancy stuff on thin aluminum. It doesn't have near the ridgidity of the Mittler machine though, even before I lengthened it from 24" to 42". I can't knock the Pro-Tools at all. I've had it for about 13 years and used it a LOT. If I could have only one though, it would be Mittler Bros. I'm sure the Baileigh machines are nice too, and they are an Alliance Vendor, but I have never personally used one. Shane, if you want to send me one, I can be your official testor.

To keep from crushing your other lines, on step dies, don't run them at full depth. Get a 1/8" step and run it 1/16" deep (or less, depending on material thickness).

Here are a couple of my recent pieces to keep this thread going.

    Nautical star door panels:

Bomber seats with diamond pleats finished just before Christmas. As you might expect, the bead rolling was the easiest part of these seats, but I thought this was as good a place as any to show them. Seeing them shipped off was a glorious day! I had FAR TOO MANY hours in those things.

speechless. i'm just speechless. you probably charged the customer more for those seats than what Clarence is worth. or at least you should have.

(my) words just can't express how cool they are.

if there was a riddler award for hand built seats yours would certainly win it hands down.

No, I lost my ass on those. I quoted them up front, instead of by the hour, and they took me 4X as long as I'd (ignorantly) planned. :( I'm over it though. :) They turned out great. I'm really happy with them, and I'm always way more critical of my own work than the customers are. He was, of course, blown away by them.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I really appreciate it.

Anybody have any idea of what kind of electric motor you can put on a standard bead roller? By the way great, impressive work!! Also inspires me to try some other things myself. Thank you. Reno...
