It's cold out and I am stuck at my desk, being trapped by the man.

This is an exercise to see how many pics of quad headlights @Moriarity has in his files.
@Sancho will dig things out from the first issue of Custom Cars. :D

We had some good conversations way back when I first bought it, but they were all kinds of mods discussed, lets narrow it down to grilles only.

I have a pretty good idea of what my 56 will get, but I am always up for pics of ideas.

I have that exact grille, because the old lady wants a custom grille in her 55 Ford.

  13. This is an AMT Grille from a plastic kit. Not sure it has an OEM origin. But I like it. IMG_8938.jpg

I have to agree, it’s hard to beat the factory piece.

I have a nice factory grille, but I don't plan on using it.

These trucks just scream for canted quads. I guess you could put a stock grill in it (yawn) or go full custom and make it a truck that people will run up to to see it.......

there were several popular ones. My blue 55 has 59 chevy and they were used quite a bit back in the day. 55ccr4.jpg

No quad head lights, but if you do do not slant them.

I bought a set of NOS 1962 Studebaker Lark rings. I just can't figure out a grille.

I like the gold one right there ^ with the Skylark wires, but I think you could do the rim around the opening a little better.

  25. as @Moriarity said 59 units were a good go to source to do either horizontal or canted quads. Other options for canted quads are 58 Lincoln units or 61/62 Chrysler units. Might be able to use 60 Dodge Dart units for either horizontal or canted.

Im also surprised to not see a early corvette grille in any of the old photos of these custom trucks. Could do 59 Chevy headlights with a 53 Chevy car grille or corvette grille filling in between the lights.

I know I'm in the minority but Ford had a dam good design with the stock 56 pickup grille. A little clean up and a nice re chrome. Cant beat the look of the stock headlight rims. IMO? If you insist on a change the Burgundy 53-55 Moriarity shows is dam good looking.

Keep in mind guys, this truck will be a mild custom, not a restoration piece. I want this truck to look like a shop truck (no door art) built by a custom shop in 1959. The custom grille is a must.

I have a question pertaining to the 59 quad lights. Are the buckets the same for the car vs the truck? I see tons of 58/59 pickup buckets for sale. Very few pass car.
