Sorry, I didn't mean to sound snippy when I wrote that the other day. that's exactly why I put this car up, inspiration.

No, my hood remains on my car, or at least in the back room at ElPolacko's for now. I did sell the very first one I louvered for it a couple of years ago on e-bay to a guy over in California, and never saw it again. Some one here in Phoenix tried to copy my hood about twenty yeas ago, couldn't figure it out and it was hidious... Ricardo's is the only "clone" to mine, and even it's slightly different.

I am glad the money that the "custom" lovers spent with Ricardo on your "intervention" had an impact!

Well, here comes the bombshell... There is a pretty good chance that I may end up with another '48 deluxe coupe pretty soon. This is an original car that an elderly neighbor of mine has owned since new. I'm thinking of doing a mild custom with this car. Not what you would expect with me at all, but it's such a nice original car that I don't want to do any real cutting, and the several of the examples shown in the last couple of pages have made me think. It also needs to be docile enough to turn my girlfriend loose in too. Skirts, drop, wide whites, bullnose strip... That's about it.

The story on my rocky neighbor ship (?) with this gal is a long and funny one at best, and if you see me and have a minute, get ready for a story! But her family and other neighbors are thinking I would probably be the best steward for this car when the time comes. Well see if the pieces fall into place...

your buddy's ride looks sweet. and the photoshopped car looks bitchin too.

10. Here's my take....I've long been a fan of your Plymouth in all it's raggedy glory and like it as a hot rod. Ricardos car is about the nicest Custom Plymouth I've seem though I like yours even better. The HAMB needs to see more of your car before you took it apart... That's a cool a Rod as I've ever seen....Raw. Centurion9

Thanks man! It'll get back on the road later this year, promise. Dead serious too, if you make it out this way your welcome to take it for a spin...

12. I'll take you up on that....Sometimes you just get blindsided by a car and yours is like that for me. Looking forward to seeing what you decide...I love it the way it is.

So, here it is a year later...

Ricardo rolled up to my place yesterday and dropped off yet another bundle of '48 Plymouth trim bits and peices for my use, and I had to take a bit of time to record his latest update - PAINT! I loved this car in black primer as I do most cars, but DAMN! He's not don yet though. He told me yesterday that after painting he can really see areas that needed more body work and prep, so most of it will get stripped this summer and redone just a shade nicer... Looks damn good to me!!! Thanks for the trim man!

That does have nice lines....the louvers seem a bit out of place on a custom to me, but I like it.

I love it. The lines were understated when it was black. I love the b pillar work. The whole package works very well. I would be honored for you to "will it" to me....

The Low 46-48 Ply. is really COOL!!!! I'm not a fan of the color he choose to paint it but that doesn't change the coolness of it.
posting a picture of my 47 DeSoto custom.
Similar body lines on DeSoto But the front of Ply is much better than the DeSoto. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

A change of heart about customs? Kinda! I'm still a go fast and run hard kinda guy personally, but when something as neat as Ricardo's car rolls up to your driveway it's hard not too recognize how cool it is.

I generally don't care for 40's Plymouths, but that is a really cool looking ride. By the way, what kinda bushes are those with ping pong paddles for leaves?

Nope, it's been home for a few months now. I've been sooo busy with everybody else's stuff since last fall that I just haven't got that far. All I really need to do now is fit the front sheet metal and straighten and prime some stuff... Soon, I promise!
