The pinstriping is super. One still has to ask why someone would paint on an extra door though.

I like to think I'm in the former category of knowing Nomads and loving them.
I'm looking to trade by '36 5w coupe for a Nomad. Anyone out there know where a '55 or '57 is????

I'll only make a comment. Have you ever met the owner of this car? I f not I'll politely ASK you to STFU. This Safari is owned by Ray Smith, one of the premier pinstripers bar non. If you ever get the privilage of seeing it take about a half hour and go around it slowly, taking in ALL of the art work and history. when your finished walk up to Ray and tell him how sorry you are for being a DICK on the HAMB and hope he counts ignorance as an excuse for showing stupidity.
I could go on but it probably would be a waste of my time.

I think that laid55 on here (Rene) has it to a "t" on the look and he hardly did anything to it. Just my .02 KNUX!

I love flyingpolock's Olds Nomads...someone needs to built 'em. They actually have style to them.

And safarinut's Safari is fun, and I think the faux door is great...I wonder how many people do a double take! It's just paint, after all.

Ummm maybe we have different names for different parts, but look at the front gaurd (fender?) and watch it flow into the "floor" and under the door...!?

I know this is just wrong on so many levels but I built an AMT 57 Nomad model into an ElCamino once and now every time I look at a Nomad I see it that way.
It seems like half of the nomads are some candy-assed parade car resto and the other half are the same me-too efi 350 700r4 overdone street rod. Occasionally I see one with a stout 283, 3 dueces, 4 speed and fenderwell headers that makes me look twice. I hate the laying on the ground with 20s look too.

Yes it is, albeit a very subtle one. It's been redecorated as a 210, although all Nomads were Bel Airs (different, simpler side trim -- lotsa holes to fill).

Mmmmmm, I like that first rendering a lot. Very nice!

  24. I knew there was something different about it. :)

It might be customised, but it's not a 'custom'... if you know what I mean. ;)

Here's the infamous Yenko blocked 57 Nomad conversion that I said I liked, then said I didn't. Taste of foot in mouth = not so good.

    Gator, you'll dig this -

Just came across this forum. I just want to stir the pot and say I'm building a raadically customized 55 nomad that will be done in Feb 09. I've had a resto rod nomad. I will agree that they are one car that doesn't need anything changed. But this whole idea that a custom has to be mild and perfectly balanced from front to back or subtle or any other description that a custom "should be", never grew up with customs or had an indivdual or unique idea of thier own. Certainly not one they ever tried.

Chip Foose makes any car look ugly. Billet, GIANT rims, low profile tires...................I just threw up in my mouth a bit thinking of it.

I believe that you might re-think that statement if you ever had the priviledge to see the car in person. It's a masterpiece.

Mick, would this fall under the "a drinkin' and a weldin" category?
