custom radiator in Seattle, WA

anyone have a line on a good radiator shop in Seattle.... I need to get mine checked out, repaired or possible get a custom one built/ordered. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

 

I was looking for a shop recently too. I asked a few automotive shops around and they recommended this guy... http://havliks-automotive.com/ I did ask about a couple other shop names I had dug up and was warned away from them.

I took my radiator for my 62 Unibody in there on Friday for a clean out and a repair on the upper tank. I havent gotten it back yet (hopefully tomorrow) so I cant give you any real first hand info.

This is on the Eastside so it may not work for you. Ill post back on this thread what I think
of the work when I get it back.

 

there's a great place in tacoma on 112th, i forget the name, and there's performance radiator also in tacoma. i have all my m/c tanks red koted there, and they also made me a custom radiator for my 53 chevy that was good.

 

Evo, there is a guy up here by my house that I do A LOT of business with. Greenwood radiator, 206-783-2177 Ron is his name. Super nice guy, Super good work, always been fair with prices. I'll introduce you if you want.

 

I asked a similar question a couple weeks ago on the NW board here's what I got;

Performance Radiator, Tacoma, 2 recs
112th St Radiator, Leon, Tacoma, 2 recs
AAA Radiator, John, Redmond, 1 rec
Greenwood Radiator, Ron, Greenwood, 1 rec

I ended up taking my radiator to 112th St for a repair. Leon did a fine job and the price was what I would call fair and reasonable.

Edit, and there you go, Matt was the recommendation for Greenwood.

Matt beat me to it: Greenwood Radiator, 100th and Aurora--they've been doing radiators a looooong time.
(BTW, saw your T at the show last weekend--love it!)

so I drained the radiator and out came green, orange and rusty liquid as well as some chunks.... I am guessing I will be getting a new one and not having this one checked, but will head over to Greenwood Rad tomorrow and see what they say.

Now if I could remove the fan mount from the waterpump, I might have enough room for an electric fan.... but first things first.... get the radiator dealt with.

 

just one more to toss in , is Seattle Radiator , ask for Pat , Great Guy Awsome service lots of exp. been fixin my **** for 30 yrs.

 

When I pick it up Ill ask him about it. We are sort of Eastside guys living where we do. Seattle can be a little bit of a h***le to deal with.

I heard about a place in the Lake Stevens area, but since my office is in Bellevue, Kirkland (Totem Lake) works good for me.

while on the subject of radiators.... I am looking for a grill shell for Model A or 32 Ford. I am only looking for steel.... I want to change up the front end of my 27 Ford Coupe. If you have one for sale, let me know.

here's an update....
had my radiator tested and its ok, so I know my issue is airflow. I ordered a new aluminum rad, and am going to get a 16" electric fan and then I should be golden. If anyone needs a T radiator and grill shell, let me know. I am going to sell my setup since it works ok.

I think I would go with the guy over in Seattle Greenwood area that has been mentioned a lot on this thread.

I picked my radiator from the fella I posted in Kirkland .... Seems to be a really nice fella ... but the radiator still had something shaking around inside when I tilted it back and forth. The repair job on the tank should be fine, just kinda scrubby looking. He said he found a couple of super tiny pin hole leaks and fixed them (thats a good thing) and lastly he broke the over flow pipe and didnt fix it properly.

Now like I said he seems super nice, and it did look like he had a recent accident of some sort. Face bruising, right arm problems etc etc ... Maybe I just caught him on a bad week.

 

aluminum radiator, 17.5" steel fan (pictured ealier in this post), fresh 50/50 coolant, and my overheating problems are history! Holds at 185 after idling in my garage and driveway for 30 mins.... on a 75 degree day with no breeze. It would be at 220+ with my old setup.

Now time for a grill shell... and do some drivin!
