BTW: Sorry, (everyone else) I didn't mean to hijack this thread. So, to get it back on topic: I also stopped buying CR about a year ago. too many 20"+ wheels and billet*****. sorry, not trying to offend any editors, just my opinion. I'm sure PriMedia will do fine without my $3.99.

 

• Don't know Damon personally nor could I pick him out of a line-up. I cast no aspersions about him nor do I really care who he is. He's got his life, I've got mine.
• I do have ideas on how it could be better BUT it's not my mag nor my job so I just don't buy it anymore.
• As a matter of fact, I don't have a boss and I can do what ever I want. I LOVE being self employed
• Don't live in a glass house, but I've appraised some. I still throw stones anyway.
• I'm sure Damon does indeed work with what he has and does his best with the parameters the publishers give him. I just don't like it. It's not my thing but that doesn't mean it can't be someone else's.
• I don't like it and I don't buy it. I buy what I like and I ingore the rest.
• Waffle Haus?? Now you're being silly... The first time I went to a Waffle House or Haus or whatever, was the last time I went to one. See above comment for clarification.

I would second that, unless they pertain to "traditional" magazines (or 'zines). Not like I've helped the issues much, as trying to distinguish the relevance of the hot topic mags has become pointless.

 

No matter how good it starts out...they all end like this one. No matter what....

Speaking of magazines my new TV Guide*****s****. It's no longer Trad, they got rid of the little pages and went full size. Those****holes, Damn Primedia...oh wait they don't own that one.

 

Not true! Had a nice post about R&C going a couple days ago- I predicted it would fall straight to the bottom- it did. Now you want to bash something expect it to stick around like herpes. I've seen magazines with the relavance of a yard cleaning flyer that gets left on my doorstep get praised on and on, but put a few ads in there and a couple high dollar (anything over $500) cars in too and suddenly that mag is ruled by "the man" and just not "cool". I've looked past the bad photos, poor writing, bad editing (any one catch the recent "cool" mag that had the text repeat itself like 4 times to fill the space around a car feature- among othe mistakes?) in the "cool" mags because there's usually something in there I like. But the******ing about the COORPORATE mags is so damn ambiguous it's really had to tell what people don't like. It's like "The pictures are too purty" "The cars are TOO nice" "The writin' is all spelt write and there's no cussy wurds!" "I like stories about somebody else drinkin' and hangin' out with unknown musicians" "All them colors ruin my beer buzz- I like my magazines with hardly any car pictures on black and white newsprint- just like the '50s"
Well, real cars guys don't complain about real car magazines. If you love "Scene 'Zines" and don't like magazines with real features on cars, tech stories, news items (about cars, not rock bands) maybe you shouldn't complain about something you don't really like in the first place. I don't like country music, but I don't waste time on the Billy Jo Bob website complaining about his music. These things never end up purdy- but that seems to be what the contributors to these posts enjoy.
