I agree .I could overlook the billet for the history, trad cars and tech. Besides, there wasn't a lot for kustom mags then.

I had a subscription for a few years, but haven't even looked at it for a year or so. There's too little in it that I like, for my money. That's all I'm gonna say.

Not true, I've seen OSR get ripped apart as much as any corporate mag here, if not more. I see positive things about R&C and Hot Rod all the time, as you pointed out about the recent R&C thread. If a newbie did an intro and boasted about how cool OSR is and that he wants to build a rat rod like on page 42 of the latest OSR, and another newbie did the same thing, but cited R&C instead, I would bet the OSR guy would get ripped more.

If******ing about the corporate mags is so damn ambiguous, let me make it clear what I don't like. Reading the tech articles is like reading a marketing press release for a given supplier. Then just to hit it home in case you missed the subtle text, there is an ad for said supplier just opposite of the "article." I don't like reading a mag coming away with the same feeling I get when a telemarketer calls. While I dislike OSR for all the reasons you state above (although you did not identify it by name), I think the appeal for some people is that they feel like the writer is talking with them in their language instead of some sales job. I don't read the scene 'zines either, but that's my guess at why some people are attracted to it. This is not a personal attack. It's the same way in all of Primedia mags and I know that formula is not yours to decide. You asked (sort of).
    Peace out.

I can't totally disagree, but without going through the last year of magazines I will just take the most recent issue of our magazine for example and say that out of the 3 tech pieces only one would really be considered a sell job. The one on sectioning a '32 roadster isn't pushing any particular products, same with the one replacing early door skins. But I know what you are talking about.

It doesn't matter who's at the helm. The very CONCEPT of a Custom Rod is the problem. The concept could be fixed with an ampersand, ala Rod & Custom. But custom rod just screams Pro Street. Or Pro Tour. Or PRO******.

Does the editors chair give everyone a thin skin and tender fragile ego? Sure, bring Damon here. Let's see if he can take it like Jim A does.
