I started with an idea I have finally committed to I hand made some covers and buckets for the original tailights on my 53 chevy and then frenched in 39 ford tailights. Guys dont beat me up to bad they are not finished yet I ran out of light and the weather started to get bad I will post more once ground and finished. I am happy with the look so far.[IMG]

It's cool, man. Kinda hard to tell from the pic...but I think the trick to making that setup look the best is to have them IDENTICAL on each side. If they are...should look awesome. If not...well, I don't think I will have to tell you how much you will be wanting to redo them. But the 2 tailights, both tilted a little bit looks cool. Good job. Need to come up with something similar for my 52 chevy.

yeh the pic is at a wierd angle the wife did not want to get down low I have other side pounded out and should not have a problem matching the angle I will say they are tight in there though.

Gotta be honest man, I'm not feeling the look. The 39 Fords are an early look for the car, especially given the shape of the rear of the Chevy. They don't really flow like a 56 Plymouth (ala Moonglow) or a 56 Packard. I think the early Ford lights are a retrograde when one of the goals of kustoming was to give the earlier cars a newer look. Your execution of the idea is very good, I'm just not digging the style

  11. I think once I see a shot of it done and both sides, I'll like it more but for now I'm not quite sure just yet how I feel

props for thinking outside of the box though

Thanks for the link, I guess I said that wrong the buckets are tight together not the lights they have a good fit with room for paint.

Wow, this car is gonna be nice. Who cares if the're early lights, this is a really unique treatment and will keep most guessing. Im feeling a early '60s vibe too. Looking forward to this build...

    hey..something different..

I think i like the idea, I take it you only have one side done right?

it might be fun trying to get symmetry from one side to the other..
but if you nail it, they should look cool
