Great thread! Lots of cool cars but I must admit I need to be schooled. What actually defines a car from being a tub to "not a tub"? Very few of the cars shown have bucket seats, any reason? Were no cars updated during the '60s with narrow whitewalls, etc? I saw a couple of clear photos that showed the bracing done behind the front doors and around the rear perimeter but can't find them now. They may not have been on this thread, any help? Thanks, Dave

  6. A tub is a 4 Dr convertible or a 2Dr convertible sedan with a back seat, the name came from the cars looking like a "Bathtub"

  7. Thanks for posting the 39 tub, is it going to stay stock?

Mags is temporary, dreaming of Steelies or KH 16 inch bent spokes.
Figure 2 yrs before on the road in any fashion.
I'd keep the girl but wife may not like it.
She sure has a pretty smile though.

  10. Brian, thanks for answering, that's a good looking stock tub. I like custom tubs, here's mine with 3 in chop and Carson top. The stock ones have a little too much top.

  14. As has been stated on the custom blues thread, just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

I just scanned through all 71 pages and not a single custom 32 or earlier phaeton has been built with rear skirts??? Seems like it could be a killer custom look
