It make me laugh how everyone acts like seperate forums means you cannot look at other stuff.

There is a minority that wants to separate their stuff from the rest of the general population. If that minority are posters on this thread there are two things that become apparent, one is that they do not like hot rods in general and think that they are being tainted by hot rodders and that it is too hard for them to figure out a way to filter out their custom stuff from stuff that they do not deem worthy of their time short of the mods going the extra mile just for them.

thats exactly right, except them moderator part. this is ryans idea, not the board members. this board is made up of mostly hot rodders. so the vote is not a real suprise. there is little reason to post any kustom stuff. it goes down the board so quick no one gets to see it. you "btt" it three times and ,then, fuck it, let the hot rodders have it. look at how many post the hot rodders have vs. the kustom guys. thats because the hot rodders have more to talk about. that in its self is not a problem. great for them i say.

how hard would it be to click on which subject you want to look at? some one compared us to "rod and custom" well, i agree. for 25 years i ran to the newsstand to get it. it was the only magazine that offered any kustom stuff at all. which wasn't much. really hot rod heavy most issues. you'd have 3 articles on building 32 fords from the frame up. and 1 on removing the door handles from a 50 chevy.

now that i've said all that let me say this, the hamb is great. it's the only place you get all this traditional material in one place. hot rod or kustom. it's great the way it is,but, it would be really great to have our own area to discuss kustom stuff.

i will say also, as has been brought up a few times already. cutting back on the ot stuff and calming down the newbie post whores would slow things down a bit. so the same ot thread won't keep coming back to the top with some new side splitting hillarity.

ryan, you've been guilding this ship for a long time. i think what ever you decide will be fine. and, thanks for letting us have a say in it.

I like the site the way it is. I just go through the titles of the posts to find posts that i think would be of my interest.
I like both rods and customs that are tasteful, for example Royal Secret for one.
And i enjoy the build ups of each.

So I've been giving this quite a lot of thought... and I came to the conclusion that we just don't have as many custom contributors as we do hot rod contributors and this imbalance is really the basis of the problem we face. There are a number of things that I could blame this disparity on, but I think the most obvious lands in my own lap. I'm a hot rod guy... and I've probably tilted the scale too far to one side.

Not wanting to be someone that does anything half ass, I then started to think about solutions to this problem. To me, the obvious cure is to somehow add real/natural content from really passionate people that know their stuff.

Gene Winfield will start his role as a contributing editor next month. Stay tuned...
