Anyone else noticed any fat fendered roadsters built in the 50's with "dog legs" cut down into the doors for entry? The doors were usually welded shut on these cars which were former sedans or hardtops, so it made it easy to get into. Looks awful in my opinion, history nonetheless. There was a picture from '65 in our local paper a while back of one made from a Buick, and my neighbor at one time owned a Pontiac built this way. I own one built similair to this in the early 60's locally. '54 mercury tudor. Roof cut off and a swoop cut into the quarter down to the body line. Late 50's Ford Frame, Mercury Flathead, and a '49 Lincoln continental front fenders. Mystery cowl. Door skins made from shoe box ford doors. Its rotted out bad, and I bought it mostly disassembled. The trunk was crammed full of parts and trim. I'm putting it together on another chassis, and was debating keeping this style if I seen a decent example of it done.
got any more pics?...I think they're pretty cool...depending on how there done... These are a little different than yours...but still kinda in the same direction... Here's a pic of one my grandpa had... and here's another one him, his brother, and a friend were building...
Pretty neat. Mine had a old roll of kodak film in the can when I got it (Several years ago) It was sealed tight by rust, and I always wondered if there were pictures of the car on it. I wish I could find that paper that had a picture of one of these.
