I am weighing my options on how to lower my '53 Desoto. I'd like to lower the front approx. 3 inches, maybe a little more.

Dropped uprights are not an option anytime soon. So it is either cut some coils, or drop the spring pockets.

Which one will ride better? Which one will have the least effect on my camber?

    Thanks

Camber will be effected the same if lowered the same amount with either method.

Pocket drop would probably ride better, but cut coils keep it all neater and more tucked up.

Cutting coils will make the spring rate stiffer, so that means a bit harsher ride. Most people with lowered cars do not mind a little stiffer. Cutting coils is easier than modifying the pocket in the A-arm for most vehicles. Not sure how your Desoto is.

Camber is not determined by the spring. Camber is determined by your arm lengths and distance apart which is factory designed in. You should be able to get camber back to normal range after lowering for moderate amount of drop. The same amount of drop by either cut coils or dropped spring pocket will have the same effect on camber, the lower arm is the same distance moved relative to the frame in both instances.
