    I can work that stuff out but who wants to if you can find such a good alternative.

    Yes, I am well versed in cosine, sine and tangents, angles,adjacent angles etc, etc.
    sohcahtoa, high school maths and all that.
    Years as an architectural draughtsman keeps it fresh in my mind.
    Maths actually is my forte.

    I have a great friend who is a master carpenter. That guy blows my mind when he gets to cutting stuff up. I've def learned a lot from him.

    For compound angles with small "second"angles the stock can be gripped in the vise with one end up in the air. Kind of like what is accomplished with the shim here -

    THIS ! Lay lines on all 4 sides of your square tube and cut.

    This guy is amazing! I mean, no cussing or swearing, not a single thing went flying across the shop and not a single beer was consumed to find the right angle.

    Now if I can just remember that trick until I need to use it. that will be the trick. that is pretty slick though.
