I imagine there's not too ,much difference between cutting them down for a chop and cutting them down for sectioning: but I could be missing an entire point. My '50 came sectioned 5 1/2" but the regulators were missing. I'd looking for a set I can do from new and not screw up. What's the preferred method and system to follow doing this? Barring original Shoebox parts, is there a donor car that get's even close?
If you chop the car you don’t need to rework the regulator. Just don’t wind the window up as much. If they removed the mounting area when they sectioned the car, you’ll just need to replicate it to mount the regulator again. No need to shorten the regulator.
If they are missing, adapt something else. I used ones from a '90 Jeep Cherokee since it still had manual cranks instead of a motor.
When I chopped my 49 Buick 2 1/2" I didn't ever cut the gl*** down. The side windows just don't roll up as far.
Welp; oddly enough, I have some regulators from my Morris Minor parts cars........ and some inside door handles.....
