cutting glass????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dan, Oct 14, 2010.

  1. I have to say, I have a new found respect for a friends chopped 57 nomad. He cut all the gl***, including the curved side gl*** with a high speed air grinder with super thin discs. taped the gl***, started softly grinding while another person held a water hose on the work. changed the discs a bunch of times, (said he got so he could feel it getting packed with debris). most importantly, he took his time.
On a side note, chopped 57 chevy nomads are not as cool looking as they might sound. Just doesn't sit right. (my .02 cents) your opinion may vary:D

Wow! I'd like to see that! I believe you, I've just never seen it done. Sounds like a good way to cut curved laminated gl***. Any pics?

I've been in the gl*** business for over 25 years. I've heard many horror stories from customers taking on cutting or installing autogl***. I've never once heard a successful attempt from a novice. Yes, it's not rocket science, but a acquired skill.
Go to a gl*** shop for your needs.

You could always spend a quarter mil and buy a CNC water jet cutting machine and go into the gl*** cutting busines.....
