cutting glass????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dan, Oct 14, 2010.

  1. I have to say, I have a new found respect for a friends chopped 57 nomad. He cut all the glass, including the curved side glass with a high speed air grinder with super thin discs. taped the glass, started softly grinding while another person held a water hose on the work. changed the discs a bunch of times, (said he got so he could feel it getting packed with debris). most importantly, he took his time.
On a side note, chopped 57 chevy nomads are not as cool looking as they might sound. Just doesn't sit right. (my .02 cents) your opinion may vary:D

Wow! I'd like to see that! I believe you, I've just never seen it done. Sounds like a good way to cut curved laminated glass. Any pics?

  3. I've been in the glass business for over 25 years. I've heard many horror stories from customers taking on cutting or installing autoglass. I've never once heard a successful attempt from a novice. Yes, it's not rocket science, but a acquired skill.
Go to a glass shop for your needs.

You could always spend a quarter mil and buy a CNC water jet cutting machine and go into the glass cutting busines.....
