I have a 28 model A 2 door sedan body the top is pretty messed up. Has anyone taken the top off of one and made a cabriolet. If so how was it finished and with what round bar, tubing??? picture please? Thanks Todd
It would be interesting to see what you have to work with as there might be enough there to use as the base for an A400 style canvas top.
There is one running around locally and it really isn't too bad. The nice part is you end up with a roadster with a spot in back to toss some picnic stuff or show folding chairs, etc. Plus, you can slide the front seat back to get some legroom that most roadsters don't have. I would think that thin box tubing or round tubing would be a good framework for around the top. If you wanted to get real fancy you could cut the straight up and down sedan windshield off and adapt a true roadster windshield to it. Don
Interesting to find this here. I have a TON of parts, flatheads, gearboxes (trannys) and so on. I am thinking that this may be my next project when my 29 A coupe is on the road. Please, keep us/me updated with progress...words and photos.
I cut the top off my 33 Sedan, the roof is a big part of the strength,so you'll have to form tubular ( round or square ) around the perimeter to make it sturdy
