    Hey J,
Yes, for us little guys up to the early teenage years, we were used to going to Lake Crowley and Mammoth back then. It was and still is a beautiful area. It was part of our extended California road trips in the wonderful, 1966-69 "Summer of Love" era and the early hot rod, motorcycle, photo journal history era. We have been back several times with our own son when he was a little guy, too.

My dad knew a lot about fishing, salt and fresh. He was one of those guys that gets up so early to be the first in line at the opening day fishing event at Lake Crowley and those Mammoth Lakes nearby. When he took us, it was not up at the crack of dawn, but, a short row over to his secret spots in most of the lakes in the area. Trout for lunch and dinner was a common thing back then. He knew where and what to feed the fish for the best experience.

We were very lucky to have experienced this place all of these years, from the 50s to the present.

    Thanks,
    Jnaki
My dad's knowledge was not in hot rods, but family values, his own Buick sedans, and support for friends.

I think a lot of our dads were like mine: grew up in the depression, had to know mechanics, carpentry, plumbing, etc. Farm boy , WW2 drafted. Taught me Not to be afraid to try anything. He wasn't into hotrods per se , but we rebuilt motors in the 100* heat with a bucket of water to throw the tools in if they got hot. ( learned to buy a house with a garage from this!). He used to get about 30-35 mpg in his old falcon , no back seat , door panels , tall tires. Not a hotrod , but he'd run cheap Juarez gas and it cost pennies to run.
