Hello, my dad just got his 56 2dr HT. built and jumped in it and went to a show in Kingsport Tenn. while there he has found a crack in the front cross member where the lower-arm connects. He needs someone that can weld, to patch it up to get him home. If y'all could help him out, or give me a number of a shop. I really don't want to have to go get him with a trailer. He will pay for help, and will insist on you being payed.
Hope your dad gets up and running unfortnatly I am not even close but would help anyone in my area (West Florida) I am pulling for your dad and feel he will get the help he needs.... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
hopefully it CAN be welded -- them front crossmembers are notorious for failing from rust my first and only 2 door wagon's failed on coming to a stop in OB in 1966 -- *both* lower control arms pulled thru and dropped the front end on the pavement :O Wish I could help -- bump
Yes is was rusted on one side and the guy that built it thought it would be ok..... but the other side is cracking. Yelp should have drove something else, but whats done is done. We will fix it right when he gets home. I just don't need a 24 hour road trip. I will give AAA welding a call thanks for the number.
Can't find a good ole boy that will do it on sunday. will have to wait till the morning. He said there is a muffler shop right close to him. Said he would start there and work his way up to the welding shops till he finds someone that sounds smart enough to fix it. Thanks for all y'alls help, Will let you know when he makes it home, hopefully tomorrow night. Its hard on a 74 year old having trouble on the road.
I have lots of numbers of people out of "The Fellow Pages" in Tennessee. I got no idea where kingsport is. PM me or call Larry
In Springfield Mo. last week at the NSRA they didn't have the Fellows Pages in the goody bag. I can't even find my old one. None of my buddy's here have one ether. Kingsport is in the North East corner
Send TiredIronGRB (George) a P.M. he works & lives right there & was probably at that show, I don't think he can weld it, but I am sure he could give you a few suggestions on where to take it in the morning. George is a great guy! Sorry I had to edit George's Hamb Name, I had it wrong!
If you can't reach George and get it done tomorrow, let me know and I'll put you in touch with some of the Kingsport guys in the Kingsport Antique and Rod Club (I'm in it) who can help. PM ME Bill
These guys are in Kingsport. Surely they can direct you to a competent welder if someone else can't help. Good luck! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Yes. I spoke to him this morning, and he had gotten it welded at a nearby muffler shop, and was on the road home.
I talked with him at 5:30 it made it to Arkansas, but won't be home till 10 oclock or so. We live 20 miles south of Branson Mo. So if anyone is in the part of the woods and needs help P.M. me..... Thanks for the help guys
