Thought some of you guys might get a kick out of my dad's RPU. It was originally built in the mid 60's by a friend of the family, John Nixon. I was about 12, 25 years ago, when my dad bought the truck from John. I remember pickin it up like it was yesterday, I was waaay stoked. The truck originally had a Winfield high compression head, Winfield down draft with a 94, B motor, 3.27 rear end and a Mallory dual point when dad bought it. The last time I remember dad or I driving the truck was about 15 years ago. Recently. dad picked up a Riley OHV setup and some other goodies and had Jimmy Taylor in New Braunfels do the install. Looks like we're gonna take it up to Austin for the Round Up, so this week I plan to put some miles on it to (hopefully) work any bugs out. Here she is.....
I don't like it!!! Does he want to sell it??? Ha Ha just kiddin... This thing is perfect!!! I've been looking for an rpu. I now know what i want mine to look like!!!
Can it get any cooler than that? I think not!! Good luck getting the bugs worked out and I'll bet very few will know what they are looking at so get ready to spend a lot of time explaining. Frank
That thing rocks.. Wish I was going to the Round Up. Oh well maybe you can show it to me when I go back home..
I saw someone selling an overhead converted banger at the portland swap meet for 13,000. Is that the going rate for one of those???? Wow!!!
Thanks guys! We took it out to the Round Up and had a blast. Really glad to have her back on the road for the family to enjoy! 1320, this is a repop OHV from a Charlie Yapp. Im not exactly sure what dad paid for it, but doubt it was quite that much. Woudn't suprise me if the original stuff went for that much. My buddy Steve Beck out in LA has an original one and man it runs nice!!!!!
