I was talking with Dad yesterday, telling him about scanning my old photos, and mentioned that I would love to get ahold of his old box of car show and drag strip photos...
Well, Dad, being the cool guy he is, just said " You know where they are, feel free to help yourself"!

I'm telling you guys, going through that box has been just incredible....
I've sorted through and identified the first batch of photos for scanning.
(I will be sorting and scanning more pics from other events in the days to come)

So, here they are....Dad's photos from the 1957 "World Series of Drag Racing", at the Quad Cities Dragway, in Cordova, Illinois...

  2. Wow! Great pics, Marty! Some famous cars, too. LIke the "Devil Deuce" that was a hit at the '57 Nationals in Oklahoma City.

Thanks!!! These are really cool, some really famous cars here, along with a lot of little guys who may be forgotten now but were the backbone of drag racing back then. The flathead dragster second from the top is John Bradley, and the one below him is Cook & Bedwell. I think that this was the race where Emery Cook taught Garlits how to set up carbs for nitro, and then Garlits beat him.

    Again, thanks for sharing these!!!
