Ok so I'm starting to tear down my coupe. I'll get into the front suspension soon. Any ideas? Where should I go to get parts if I want to rebuild it and stay stock? OR what should I start to consider as a replacement to save time, but more importantly money? M2? S10? Has anybody done one of these rebuilds on the 49-54 chevy?
A stock 216? You can get most mechanical parts for them from AutoZone or NAPA, but you may have to wait a day. There are a lot of good places to order any part you need... Filling Station, Chevs of the 40s, Langdon's Stovebolt Engine Co., Patrick's, etc. Langdon's has a lot fo great stuff to basically modernize the motor while keeping it looking essentially stock... like a mini HEI and Weber carbs. If the motor needs to be rebuilt, you will be better off with a 235... preferably 55-62.
