After having the best hot rod summer I've had in many years (Thanks to Howard Farwell for letting me become the current caretaker of the truck) I'm facing reality that I might have to spend my winter taking Howard apart and putting it back together. With this years hard driving, (about 10K plus miles) over the Nebraska roads it has developed a significant number of rattles, squeaks, other strange noises. I probably worry to much but you can always imagine something falling off. When I put it on the lift everything is tight with nothing rubbing or banging. I need to realize it's 93 years old. If I make it to 93 I'll probably have the same problem. It's time for lunch, I'll put on my noise canceling head phones and everything will be OK!
Found the left rear body bolt loose on mine. Washer was scared from the bolt head banging on it. Jacked the body up replaced a missing shim. Much less banging noise now.
At 92 years, I have given my roadster to my son, he grew up in that car. He is the only kid in the LAR club that rode the rumble seat to Tulsa NSRA nats & back to SOCAL in 1973.
Can you maybe replicate the noise somewhat by having a couple friends push up and down on the rear, then the front, then front/rear on one side and vice versa ? Might be able to narrow it down and just lube or tighten something. Are you sure it's the car squeaking and not the driver ? just kidding, I sometimes squeak when I move too)
