I drive a 67 mustang every day. Here in the desert, salty roads aren't a problem, just heavy rain. When it rains, it covers up whole interesections, and most people don't know how to handle it, so you gotta watch out. I'm from back east, so i'm familar with all that snow that you guys are showing. BTW, the only problems I have while driving it every day, is no heater (someone yanked out all the controls), crappy brakes, and 4:11 gears. I like the gears even though I only get 8-10mpg, the heater doesn't bother me, and as long as I don't have to panic stop everything is all good. If'n I ever get a Model A sedan, i'll drive it every day too.
I drive the ranchoevery day the turd eats up eight dollars a day in gas. Its a long drive to work. P.S I havent had wipers since I got it, rain x at 45 works for me. That's YOURS??!!??!!?? I saw it the other day off of Marine Drive! Killer car there James! Wot about the Merc??
yeah before I get to much crap about why... I no longer have to take the highway to work. And since top speed w/ the original rear and 3spd is all of 50mph. It make it a little less annoying...
I alternated between my '61 Futura and '66 Club Wagon (daily driver for 5 years) until this year. Here is a typical shot from last winter. The snow and ice scuffed the paint and the salt brought out some serious rust. Winter beats the crap out any car here. I drove the van year-round for 5 years, but I bought a new truck this summer and now drive that. I have the Futura garaged this year, but it was outside last winter. The van has never been garaged.
I've been driving mine every day (even though I don't really want to). The heat works great and it starts instantly in the morning no matter what. Then it doesn't start at all if I try again an hour later. Sigh. Plus I can't take it to touchless car washes because it's got holes in the floor/rockers, and despite my best last-ditch efforts before it snowed, rust is still starting to creep up on the jagged edges that won't hold paint very well. Blah If it were in better condition I wouldn't have the slightest problem with driving it in the snow and salt. Cars don't rust if you paint them right and keep them clean.
My daily driver is a 69 pontiac full size 2 door hardtop that 's lowered alot ,it's blue with a white and black interior and has chrome smoothie wheels and a done up 350 smallblock in it ,it's a canadian model so it has the same frame and drive train as a impala.we don't get too much snow around here and they don't usually salt the roads ,just gravel em so i allways drive my cars year round.last year i drove the 57 chev wagon, year before 66 satellite etc.It just rains ALOT here so rain x is a necessity!
My '64 Tempest 455 Tri-Power, driven daily rain or shine. Okay, no rain in So Cal, just shine..... ----- Bart -----
I drive a 48 Ford F-1 pickup with a 425 Caddy on a daily basis. I'm a little late this year but I mount studded snow tires for the winter, I also have two pieces of 1 1/2" X 2' X 4' blue stone in the bed for ballast (approx. 350 lbs). No problems in three winters. See picture here - http://community.webshots.com/photo/17242398/17242929LoILEDTYdC Happy Holidays Bill
[ QUOTE ] I also have two pieces of 1 1/2" X 2' X 4' blue stone in the bed for ballast (approx. 350 lbs). [/ QUOTE ] That reminds me to mention that I just put 400 lbs of sand (4 tyvek sand bags @100 lbs each) in the bed of my pickup (Dakota). It helps with traction. My dad always made a frame to hold concrete slabs in the bed of his pickup, but I need the bed floor since I haul junk frequently.
I have been driving it 12 yrs everyday it has a 348 with 3x2s shaved door handles and the trim has been taken off the hood and tailgate.
I bought this to drive in the winter, but I can't leave anything alone. I lowered it, flamed it, and white walled it. The wagon behind it was my driver until I moved to Misery. It's a 66 big block Caprice wagon.

yea i have a 62 chevy truck on air bags and a 50 chevy coupe choped 6 in. only 2 running cars i have i drive them both year round . but i live in cali so not much winter here
I'm with drgnwgn. rain or shine, hot or cold 10 miles or 10,000 miles. The 51 is my only car ( has been for the last 5 years ) When its not running I'm not going anywhere. (If I knew how to post pictures I would.)
My daily is my '54 Chevy pick up. '58 vintage 235 bored .060 and a '53-4 Corvette cam bhacked by a S-10 five speed and '55 open rear with original 3.90 gears (only made for the first 6 months of '55). It will get duals and an Offy 2x1 intake in the Spring. On the hiway I get a little over 20mpg. r
I drive a '65 Galaxie everyday. Granted its just a beater. When the F-Truck is done it'll be the new beater. I've got a 4wd chebby in the drive but I haven't driven it in awhile, it just takes up space. Anyone need a rod hauler? In the late '70s early '80s I had a '49 pan that was my address. I kept a '64 chebby at my moms house but didn't get there very often. I've always driven what I built good weather or bad. I always figured it it got broken I could fix it.
I drive the 1960 F-100 I got from Killer just about every day. If I have to pull a trailer (kinda common in my line of work - probably 1-2 times a week.) I have a 2002 Chevy that I drive.
When I first put my old '48 on the road it was my only transportation for two years. Drove it everyday regardless of weather conditions.
