Hello all, I'm Jerry and I live in North Dallas. I have been working on cars since I was a kid in my dad's garage. My first car was a '69 roadrunner conv. and I have had all sorts of rides ever since. I currently own a 1957 chevy that is up for sale to make room for a 1935 ford 3 window coupe. My dad , who has build many a rod, has it now and I NEED it. I would love to put an early hemi in it, 331 or 354 so I signed up to learn more about the early hemi's. Looks like I found a good source. I went the "Neal Name" route instead of making up something. My dad knows lots of people arouund the country and, who knows, some of you might be on here. Dear ol Dad is John McDill and if you've heard of him, Sorry, but you will also know he knows a thing or 2 about putting these old cars back on the road. Hope to get to know some of you along the way............ Thanks for reading. Jerry McDill dallas tx
Welcome from Amarillo. I was just down in your area a couple weeks ago. got family in Waxahatchie too darn hot and humid for me. Vance
Thanks guys, I am in the process of making room for the 35 3 window right now. Is there a good early Hemi source here in Dallas? I prefer to just by one that's rebuilt & ready to go.
Thanks for the Hemi tips. I can get a 354 Desoto core from Dad (I think I can con him out of it) So I guess I just need to find a shop to do the heads & Crank. Jerry
Well the Hemi dream has been replaced by a 427 BBC reality. I got a steal of a deal on a 427 tall deck and turbo 400 trans. I figure there's no better place for this RAT motor. It will give new meaning to the term RAT ROD. jerry dallas
DeSoto engines would probably be a 330 or 341, only Chrysler had a 354. The second car I ever rode in (as an infant) was my grandfather's '35 Ford 3W coupe back in 1977. I guess there's a chance it could even be your car. I'm not sure of any ID on it, but I'll see if I can find anything. Good to have you here. Danny G****vine
