yeah today I turn 55 years old....like the old saying goes, " if I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd taken better care of myself "...boy my feet hurt, been wiring on a buddy's Roadster all day and that will make you bend in ways you haven't in years. It's all good.
Don't admit to anything hurting, because it really will then. Just turned 59 and I feel GREAT! My Dad just retired in his early 80's. Like girls block out pain during childbirth, they distract themselves. That's what working on your ride is for. I get busy and forget to eat along with everything else. If you have to quit working and feel the day is going to catch up to you, get to sleep fast. You need to sometime anyway. I just want everyone to live and feel good as long as possible, and my rod has been my best medicine............ HAPPY BIRTHDAY and many more!
Happy birthday. Right behind you at 53. I make old man sounds now gettin' out of the chair and such. "Uhhh" and "Oooooooh" and "Awwwwwh" have become a big part of my repertoire. Many more happy birthdays to you.
Double nickels? Hell, you're just a kid.................................... Happy Birthday and relax, the best is yet to come.
Happy B-day! I will be 55 august 20th. Soooo, I was born in 55, I'll be 55 and I own a 55 chevy. Lippy (I can relate to the ooh's and ahh's) .
Happy 55th Man ,,wish i was 55 again ,,i'll be 68 in a few months ,,Time sure flys after 50 EH ??? enjoy yourself ,,live each day to it's fullest ,,
Happy 55th. Enjoy while you can. I am at the 66th, and it ****s......But still think young. Have a great Birthday.
You got 5 years on me... I'm already feelin' the aches and pains.... Relax and have a happy boithday!
I hear you man. As I'm getting to 53, I wonder were the time went. Sometimes it seems like I was 21 just yesterday. I plan on working till I'm 70, as I love my job and the pension plans not that good. I hope my health holds out. Got my Acadian hobby car, and plan to have another project car or truck to build in my "old age"...
It won't get any better. Just remember as you get older you have to actually make an effort to do the things that once were effortless. You learn to live with the pain,it the new normal.
thanks guys...having both grand daughters here all weekend was the best birthday present I could have gotten. Wiring the roadster was fun too...but nothing beats the hug from a five year old grand child.
Ditto on 53 and your feelings match mine. Worked in and under my car all day yesterday. The welding and grinding and dodgeing the slag all day kept me from thinking about the hurts I have. I now have a full time Doctor for the first time ever, and I beg him to shoot my hips up with steroids every month now. I wanted to have needle tracks, im a full fledged junkie now.
I'm 3 years ahead of you, never feel younger than when I'm working on or driving my old Fords. You're not really old until you need a joint replacement and the doctor tells you he can't do it because he can't get the parts for such an old model. My father's excuse for not having the hip replacement he needed was that he was so old they couldn't get the parts.
Don't you just love it when some kid comes on here and expects us to be sympathetic about his GROWING PAINS Seriously, if you think its bad now wait until your 66.............it will make 55 seem like a walk in the park. congrats on making it this far and I hope you have a lot more living to do. Frank
I just did the 55 thing a few months ago. I lift 200,000 lbs of weight a week and run 6 miles per week. Keep moving and you won't seize up. Funny about functional strength, body building exercises don't help you with crawling under a dash board or even raking leaves, happy b'day! Bob
Happy Birthday! a couple of days late. Yeah, I turn 55 on Aug. 13 this year; and still feel great, as long as I'm sitting down! (Damned arthritis ) Anyhow, just happy to still be here, *****6
Happy Birthday. I know what you mean. I spent the past couple days rolling around under my Camaro. I'm 66.
Thank God for ALEVE! I turned 55 last March. I recently replaced the radiator on my '55 and later that night I felt like I had been wrestling a bear. I'm sure if I lost a few pounds.......... My ETs would improve
