I am on the freeway and see what seems to be a pretty nice RPU, so I haul**** up to it in traffic and goddam it's a Volksrod... it's like seeing a********** with a nice**** and when you get closer you figure out it's a rocker dude...

I have nothing against Volks rods, if that's what you are into, go for it... *****, if you have a Unimog with gold 24's on it, it aint mine, so I dont care.

I agree, but why put a FORD tailgate on it?

What's with the honkin' redneck pipes? Looks like they should be on a Silverado covered in Lund accessories. [IMG]

Not quite a Unimog but an ex-French military Simca-Unic(originally powered by a French-built Ford flathead;it now has a 350 TBI w/700R4)converted into a one-of-a-kind motor home.Built by a retired transmission designer(a Doug Nash alumnus)who also worked at Kar Kraft(think Boss 302 and original GT-40).I'm in the process of doing some graphics on it.Not quite finished yet.

Because it is a ford truck bed , and that's what fit ? I think he should chop out that " ford " script and put a VW embossed bit from the front of a van or something in there . . . really wow em . Or stuff a 302 under the hood [IMG]That things a*****ing cool little hot rod .

I'd be mad stoked with a Unimog, theres a guy in my old hood that has one, looks like its on an old toyota 4x4 chassis, unless they CAME with a hella short wheelbase...

  13. I was at the Donut shop in Huntington Beach this past week and I see this very nice looking copper colored roadster pickup with an A grill on - I look a little closer and I notice there is no engine under the hood!

then I walk around back and there's a volkwagen engine hidden under it with a "VW***" on the California license plate- (just can't remember the whole tag)

I wish I had a picture of it - It looked really nice.

Nice shot...pretty cool shot. I like how he extended the front end on that thing to give it a suicide look, unless he is running a straight axle???

I knew it was a FORD bed...

I guess what I meant is why in the world would you put that much time and effort into a VW, use a FORD bed, but still keep the FORD script on the tailgate? I think it would have been better to have a smooth tailgate, have the VW logo, or even volkswagon? across the tailgate.

That is Butcher Will's car, The beam is a stock vw beam. The body has been dropped on the pan and pushed back to give it the stance. Socal-look.com sells an adapter to put the I beam front end on a bug, Mike Pye has one on his car. He is the editor of volksword magazine. By the way, the truck you see on the trailer was in this months volksworld magazine. Heres a pic of the beam on mike pye's car.

I think that VW truck is a cool little hot rod. Sure it's not an original roadster, but the front sheetmetal immediately tells it's a VW. I think putting a VW script in the tailgate would be a neat touch. At least take off the Ford script. Those exhaust tips do look like they belong on a new suburban or pickup with all the gook-wagon bolt-ons.

That VW truck has more hot rod in it than most of the rockabilly scenesters do with their 50's four doors with overheated springs and wide whites.

I like it man. It's a wild ride!

But I agree with many of the fellas, I would build my own gate or replace the Ford with a VW deal. Other than that it's pretty neat and I'll bet it holds a boat load of beer under the 'hood'. LOL

That was at the VW Classic last weekend. Even being a VW guy, I'm not down with the VolksRod thing. Putting a straight axle on a bug just seems wrong!
