I just pushed out a customers car on Friday and it burned to the ground today.

I was working on a 61 Olds for a friend of mine. He re did everything, rebuilt engine, $2000.00 Tanson modified TH 400 trans, ShortBus and I did a 78 Chevy truck disc brake conversion, enlarged the trans hump in the floor, repaird a rusty floorboard on the p***enger side, replaced rusty fuel lines and put in a really *****in Vintage Air system.

I drove it last Thursday and was in the process of sorting out new car bugs along with a lackluster trans performance. By Friday we had them under control and the customer even got to drive it even with first gear slipping pretty bad. We had a malfuntioning heater control valve and brought it in to adjust it. When I went to pull it out the shifter had jammed internaly, that gave us reason to flat bed it out to the transmission shop.

He picked it up today, took it to his favorite bar (and mine) when it went up in flames. He said it was fuel related as he could smell gas pretty bad and it wasn't running right just before it went up.

I'm sick to my stomach.......... [IMG]

But it's BETTER than burning down your shop or while it was in your custody..... [IMG] [IMG]

Yeah, he has full coverage insurance on it. I suppose the real ****ty part is that he needs this car bad. He wrecked his Harley on his way home from my shop Friday. Been his only transportation for the time I had his car.

Did he have a good fire extinguisher in his car, and if not, why not?

I know guys who go on cruises with no tools, and hey, if that's what they want to do, I say nothing, but I always yell at them if they have no fire extinguisher.

  9. Hell yeah....No extinguisher = no brians...IMHO.

"Its and old car, hell i ****ed with the wiring...yes i have a fire extinguisher!!!"

    That really ****s....

listen to me very carefully,IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!!! that guy is suffering from bad mojo like burndup sez.if he'd had a fire extinguisher it woulda been something else like wrapping it around a telephone pole.

Hey you might feel like it's your fault and you might feel like this is the worse thing ever. Yea, the loss of a rad car and the fact that this project had your name on it might hurt a little. But you better thank whoever you worship that noone was hurt. If you want to sulk go ahead but a lot worse things could be on your mind today - especially if this guy was a friend AND got some kind of injury out of it.

    Count what blessings you have......
