I live one town over from Yucaipa and take my wife to yard sales there almost every weekend. Been all over Yucaipa and the surrounding area scoping out old sheds and backyard barns at the sales. Nothing yet. But I'm still looking and hoping for the best.

  8. From past info posted here, this is latest known info:
Lost 1957 Chevy 210 2 dr post sedan last seen in _______, Illinois and owned by ________(Jakes Rakes).
Car was sold in 199__ from an ad placed by JakesRakes in the __________, Illinois Thifty Nickel paper. At time of sale, car was red with a 307 engine in stock location with no front bumper or grille. Car may have later gone to a government auction.

Next time you are in Yucaipa, go here. 34459 ave H. See this house.
At least you can see the one car garage that the '57 was built in.

Hi Dan. I saw this article in a magazine and was fascinated by it. I thought I remembered something about you moving to the Raleigh area a while back. Anyway, thanks for building such a legend!!

Surely @Dan Glover has record of the vin? couldn't this car be found with some kind of a vin search?

That is funny. I got a 1972 motorcycle from a guy that bought it brand new, registured it and rode it around for 5 years then parked it for 25 years, that is when I got it. DMV had no record of it. Nor of the guy that had it, or the address. They made me do a vin check, how would they know what they were checking if they couldn't find it in the first place? $$ is all, had to pay sales tax on a free item $$ plus reg $$ and some sort of transfer fee, not that it was transfered $$.

No one has the vin number. Talked to Cal DMV and I had the Lic# but since the car was smog exempt they won't have any records of it based on Lic #

I am surprised that @Sancho has not found this car yet. Hell this thread started in 2009.... But if it got a firewall put back in it and a front mounted engine, maybe it isn't worth finding anymore? Wasn't @chevrolet150 building a clone? If he was, he has not been on here in 5 years...

What is up with the blower in above pic? It looks like there is a bite taken out of it.

  27. Looks like there is a housing around the engine and he only took off the right side to work on the engine.

Looks like he's in the process of making a cardboard pattern for the engine enclosure.

  30. Looking closer, I believe you are right. That looks like cardboard on drivers side. Driver side done and working on passenger side with piece of cardboard on floor.
