well if you read my Druid Princess update I said I'd try to post pics of The Ice Truck, Dan Woods Built this in 1970. story is he was a young lad when he started, got drafted, went to Vietnam, Came home (lucky guy) and finished it, Now theres a car guy huh!!!!!!!!! Dave Shuten bought it, he has talked about this car since i met him so he really is the guy to own it! Dave has done a top notch job putting this car back to the way Dan built it back it '70.. I wish I lived closer Dave is a great guy! lots of fun to do a project with. anyway Dave will show the car for the first time in Detroit 2008, any questions ya should ask Him he has been in contact with Woods for every nut & Bolt of the restoration. its all about the Show Rods Baby!!!! FRITZ
I love the showrods....I was a kid in the late sixties and early seventies and went to all the Fresno Autoramas....so those were the cars I remember. Beautiful.
I was just wondering what Dave was up too........You guys are animals, always working on kool stuff.......Littleman
very very cool, in all aspects of the word.......we need more of that funky gl*** style down here in oz........
"Vintage goldchainers" LOL thats funny1 Yes Dave is a good guy, I think he will be restoring the Milk truck next for a mutual friend of ours, its a mess. the Ice Truck was in way better shape to start with FRITZ
I have some original construction shots buried in my stuff somewhere (and when it was being towed to a show and Dan's truck got totally t-boned). This car needs to have Danny Eichsted's "Leg Show" T recreated so they can be shown together again as they were in the '70s. So glad to see this one finally back as it should be. This car like a lot of bad-*** others came from the Early Times car club. Maybe you could get Steve ****an and The Rodder's Journal interested in the finished Ice Truck so we could mate it up with the second half story on the club (did one that covered the early days of the club).
Man it sure is great to see these old show cars being brought back from the dead. Keep up the good work.
Way ta go Dave! thanks for the update Fritz.Im still pluggin along on my show rod also, hope I can keep up to the standards of Dave,Fritz Moriarty Doc etc. "Ain't SHOW RODS Kool ?"
I worked with Wood's in Salinas, Ca for a few years, outstanding guy, to say the least. Brilliant mind, and creates mind blowing ****. I wish I had some of his imagination, and I'm sure he's just tickled that his early creation is being remade. Nice job.
I'll second that. It looks SOOOO much better this way than in its "Blood Alley" version when Dave got it. Davey called and said that he got the motor running over the weekend. Superb!
I'm just stoked that Dave is going to all the trouble/expense to get the wire wheels restored/recreated like the orig.. You guys did great on recreating the paint layout too...
Groovy Man! you'll need to get some bell bottoms and platform boots,... love those Dan Woods showrods!
Man you get to work on all the fun stuff!I just get to paint cars for people that can't drive for ****.
i caught the milk truck on the street on the 96 power tour, when i find my cable, i'll scan the pic i took...
What it really needs is it's body double ""Budwieser Truck" cloned. It was a daily driver and got lots of street use but alas, it was stolen and destroyed and all that is left is the radiator wings and Motometer.
it'll be at the autorama, you know! along with pink freaks, bubbletopped cornfield creations, etcetera...
