As some of you know I have been digging in boxes from my move two years back and have posted a few pics.
Ran across this unfinished model from back in my Vdub period.
Actually had thought about trying this one full sized at one time. Mild chop, recut hood to follow fender line, and full fadeaway fenders and skirts.
Was going to put in the art show tomorrow but not sure it qualifies as art. Yet another approach to beetlemania. [IMG]

Somebody did build one very similar to that. It was in Hot VW's about a year ago. Alot of custom metal work in it. I think it was a rag top too.

I dunno about the skirts, but if you took a Beetle and chopped it, laid the back side forward or extended it, and did the fadeaway front fenders I think it'd look pretty cool. The great thing about old Beetles is that there's a billion of them still around, they're cheap, and if you screw up you can just order a brand new body from Mexico [IMG]

It was a Steve Stanford concept originally and was built shortly after the art was published in one of the VW mags...I know I have a copy somewhere.

By the look of it, he has cut the doors above the fadeaway so they're kind of triangle shaped. Sure would be interesting to get in and out of.

It wouldn't look half as bad without those stupid TEEF on the bumper.

  13. Ya know speedy, you don't have to admit to everything you've ever done.
