Have you ever posted pics of your ride here? Cause I'm sure they would love it, who wouldn't (except your darn neighbor French Poodle:D )?

Those rear 1/4 panels you did are an awesome answer to a difficult problem. I like it.

    Well done man!!!

    That DS is great!!

I'm pretty sure the Turbo 4-banger from an 80's CX will fit a DS...

The Masserati engine has hollow sodium filled exhaust valves that are as week as a kitten & prone to faiure, these need to be replaced with new stainless valves... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

That will be cool when done. Does it have the factory air ride still?

Nothing really interresting done (stripping the car from it's wiring harness, restoring impossible to find ball bearings and so on, but that helps a little)
So for all of you who asked me about the opening 1/4 panel, here it is, could be done for any car but with more work.
The bolt that holds the back of the panel
    [IMG]
The adjustable bracket behind it all this original to the car
    [IMG]
The reinforced C pillar (because a first try ripped the sheet metal) on witch the struts mounts
    [IMG]
The bottom guide (relocated original one) to hold in place the 1/4 panel when closed on the B pillar.
and the other part of the guide (relocated original one with bushing so it doesn't rattle) on the 1/4
    [IMG]
A view of the way I closed the 1/4 panel and the Mercedes hood hinge
    [IMG]
Another view with yet another reinforcement (a way longer version of the original one)

And finally a nice view of half the car in bare metal
    [IMG]

Yes I restored the original hydropneumatic suspension, it would be a shame to get rid of it.

my second grade teacher, Mrs. Trant, had one of those. it was green... and probably a new or near new car. I always thought they were cool.

I remember seeing one in a junkyard a few years back.. but you really just don't see them at all any more. even at 'concours shows where all the odd stuff shows up.

    Amazing work!
My in-laws had a Renault when I first started dating my wife so I am sort of jaded by French cars. I have always said if I run across a French car engineer I am just going to punch him in the mouth.:D
I have always thought the DS would be a good start to a Bonneville Salt Flats project.

it is funny, here we are 52 years later and cars are just starting to look like the style set by Citroen in the 50's (a poor example is the prius). the designs was so far ahead of its time, unibody construction, and so much more.

hell, the SM has a cd of 0.19!

You can´t compare these two cars. The Citroen was introduced in 1955.
I think this is a kool project and I´d love to see more updates !
...well ,the title says it all: Dare to be different....really dare
Even if it´s not HAMB related(I think it is)for some guys, we have to admit :isn´t our hobby also about getting inspirations and ideas from others for the own project ??
That 2 cv on the trailer is not 100% my car but totally inspiring ! It looks like a movie prop from Star Wars !! I thought the rearend was suppose to be the frontend:)

After WWII Renaults are real piece of shit, except for a couple of models from the 50's, with the worst one being from the 70's

Like any car if they ain't maintained properly they break down, I used to have a Chevy truck that started to burn once, the previous owner had done some "electrical work" on it. The problem of the DS is that it is a sensitive car that require a lot of special attention and it is easy to fuck them up, for exemple if the carb is not tune correctly, the trans is going to act funny, everything is connected to each other: the suspenssion, the trans, the carb, the brakes, the adjustment of one affect the others.

Ignore the nay-sayers and keep on keeping on with this one. it's gonna be sick once it's done.

I for one would be glad to see updates on this as it progresses.
