I thought you guys would like to see a stock one moving. They are damn sexy if you ask me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKO2sERWy3g
Looks better already than an exhibit hall full of cars I saw last weekend at the GNRS. You rock. The dash was a perfect choice. Hinge the quarter? Brilliant! Quick, sign this guy to his own TV show!
Thank you, for now I'm finishing to strip the body and fix dents all over the body, since I'm working just 1 or 2 hours on it a day 5 days a week progress are slow.
Ever wonder why it's called the 'DS'? Citroen wanted to name it the 'De'esse' which is French for 'Goddess', but Citroen management agreed that while not everyone could properly pronounce 'De'esse', almost anyone in the world could pronounce the letters 'DS' and thus still refer to the car as a goddess. You might enjoy this link to about a Robo-DS built by Citroen in 2006 to celebrate 50 years of the DS's legacy. Enjoy ! http://www.amorphicrobotworks.org/car/index.html
We had a very nice looking one of these in the museum at EdaVille Rail Road when I worked there as one of their blacksmith/woodworkers.I think it was all origional had chocolate brown top and fenders with the rest of the car a light tan They do make a very nice looking car when done up .
Actually the French make it sound like it is a cross between "Sit Row En" and "Sit Ren". It's like starting with Sit-Row-En, then try to turn the three syllable word into a two syllable word without losing any of the sound. I am not sure how to describe that.
actually it's more like "See throw Ann" heheh. pronounce rapidly "throw" and put on your best cowboy accent for "Ann" Way the go btw! What headlights are going in? The ones that turns with the wheels? Always liked that feature, wonder what it would be like...
Great work on a cool car. Its properbly not so common in America i suppose? In Sweden it was called Citroen Padda or just Paddan witch is the same as Toad in english! It was called that because of the body look and how it sat with the hydraulic all the way down!! Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming!!!
Wow, what an amazingly looking DS. I'd love those for years and been a proud owner for at least three of them. Great looking cars but pos when needed work. Good luck with your build and keep us updated. Oh, and DS means godess in french
I was googling for "DS coupe" and it seems there were quite a few built back then, from Bossaert, Chapron, Ricou and others - but none of them look as good as yours! I´d personally go for single colour paint - kind of a semi coachbuilt look.
The best looking coachbuild coupes were the Chapron (all other coupes were just shortened sedan: absolutly hideous), but I think the design is too far away from the sedan. I wanted to build this car with as many cues from the sedan as possible. I should be posting an update pretty soon. Now on the sad note is that I'm having personnal problems and don't know if I will be able to keep the car.
That it is beautiful car, like most of the guys on here the last thing I expected to see was a custom Citroen, but damn....And for lack of a better word at the moment the "Lambo" 1/4's are pretty sweet. Hopefully you can work out those personal problems and keep her, that's a beautiful example of the potential something not so mainstream has. Good Luck with it and keep us updated. On another note I've been eyeballing this diesel mag I got that has a newer Dodge in it with flip down bedsides, I think in the next few weeks I'm going to ship my '57 F100 off to get some flip down bed sides!! Whoo Hoo!!
Hope you can get over your problems Chris. It would be a shame to have to get out of the project when you seem to be so nearly there.
beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and the way that build is going i think its gonna be drop dead georgeous.
Hang in there Buddy..please keep us posted on you and that cool car, excellent work, great imagination..My buddy has a DS, The Goddess, Sally and I recently aquired an SM, Her Majesty..I guess the 2CV would be The Jester...am currently draining bad gas out of the SM so I can pull the tank and have it boiled, it seems to run fine by dribbling gas down the Webers..thats a four OHC aluminum roller bearing V/6 with three Webers and a five-speed..the older couple that had it told us stories of walking away from 455 Trans Ams with four people in the car!
That thing is NUTS and you do top work. Ive often thought about how a modded Citroen like this would look. KUDOS to you for having the balls (and the talent) to give it a go !! And here's what I would call this car.....LE MADNESS !! VIVE LE FRANCE !! Keep us posted with progess pix, Im itching to see this thing finished !! Rat
Your project is most worthwhile. I hope you're able to sort out your personal stuff and complete the car.
