i have a 69 rambler that is in deprit need of a dashboard regrove. the car spent most of its life in hawaii, so you can guess how cracked up it is. my problem is. i can't find some one how has a reprouction dashpad. and the dashpad is glued down to the dash pan so i'm afraid i will destroy it so bad getting it off, that i won't be able to salvage it to recover and install.
mooneyes offers dash covers in a shitload of colors for any cat i think for under 40 bux if i remember correctly,,, MISS hootch
My dad had just dashes re-do a Challenger pad - excellent work, but I think it was a little expensive.
If it spent most of it's life in Hawaii is there any metal left under the dash pad? Every older Hawaii car I've seen was rusted away from the inside out. On the dash... consider replacing it yourself? If it justs follows the metal, make a "muslin" pattern and sew up a replacement and glue it on after stripping the old one. If it's got a foam "body" to it you might want to duct tape, saran wrap, whatever it takes to seal the cracks long enough to pull a quick plaster mold off it and blow a replacement foam with some two part urethane foam, either flexible or rigid. Then cover that. Or CUSTOMIZE it! Strip off what's there and INVENT a new dash!
