I have them stuck all over one wall in my office.

  2. That's exactly what I do with them, well with the three I have. I don't enter any shows any more. Just got too bored sitting and staring. We try to hit the drive your hotrod and abuse it kind of functions.

I do the magnets with my stickers also so I don't use them up with one stick.

I sense a new episode of Hoarders coming out!

Really it's all part of the gear head disease. There's no 12 step program or Betty Ford for us. All we can do is hit the speed shop and get out the tools, that's our therapy.

  7. Hmm you should run some of those off. That's a great one.

Nice one Dean! I don't have anything car show worthy but I do like dirty and salty plaques.

Many moons ago there was a guy in the Western Maryland area that had a 40's Lincoln sedan and he stuck his dash plaques to the inside of the windows so from the outside you saw the back of it and the tape. Classy guy, and he typically had no shirt with a big gut, shorts and cowboy boots.

I've got a Louis Sherry tin box filled with them. The local show used to have really nice ones starting in the early 1960's. The club president would have his car featured on the plaque, used to be a great show then the town redid the fields and you couldn't place antique cars on a soccer field. Bob

[I've seen these things displayed in hundreds of different ways, but I really like the idea that if you don't want them, give them away. How about to some kid who is really admiring your car at a cruise in or event. You will make their day, they will remember your kindness for ever and you will probably give them the desease that we all have :)[/QUOTE]

    This is so true...

I think they're cool. I've stuck them on tool boxes, cars, fridges, all over. And when I see them I can almost always remember things about that show. I like that.

I look at them and see $15-$20 entry fees. Mine line the inside of my pickup bed.

  14. Couple of my buddies have an awards and trophy store. Several years ago they added dash plaques to their services. Its turned in to a huge part of their business. They have a map on one of their walls with stick pins where their plaque customers are. Its pretty crazy to see how much they grew that part of their business from local shows to spots all over the globe.

Tossed out over 200 of them going back to the mid '70's a year ago.
Mostly metal, many from defunct clubs and shows.Never opened the ones in wrappers.
Dont miss them and didnt get one at a show if there was a choice.
Never understood the need for them.

  17. I like collecting them.to bad some are ugly but it's cool to keep them

There is no actual need for them. They are pleasant reminders of happy times. Holding one can bring back memories of a particular day. That's all.

  20. They are kinda like loose pennies around my place,,I have a nice wooden cigar box packed to the top with dash plaques,I know there is a recent Charlotte Goodguys dash plaque in the back seat of the sedan.

There are a couple on the work bench in the shop and one still in the rapper on my dresser,,another words,,they are all over the place.

I guess I need to round them up and add them to the cigar box. HRP

  21. I don't have any plaques other than the ones I get from the HAMB, and I can't figure out what to do with those. I either need more cars or a garage.

So far that is the best reply!:) Based on your photo of the SCTA plaques, do you get one for every run or just for breaking a Record? Bob

You get one for your fastest run of a meet. Black ones are non record. Red ones are records. The blue one is a non record from World Finals. Only got there once so far.

Bonneville should never be an "if" or "bucket list". Its one of those places you HAVE to go to. I'm a bottom feeder when it comes to LSR. The big boys are what you want to see. Its hard to beat seeing, listening and feeling a blown fuel roadster go past at the three on the long course. Me? I'm over on the short course having a whale of a time but not setting the world on fire speedwise.

I too have a shoe box full of them starting in the early 80s, someday they will disapear like the rest of my junk. But the one I like most says Contestant REAGIONAL CHAMPIONSPIH DRAGS-1955 National Hot Rod Assocation. A piece of my younger life.
