I had debated using the ‘52 DeSoto dash in the Model A, donated by the wagon I’m building. I started smoothing it up today, and decided I made the right choice.

It's got a Desoto heart, why not a Desoto think center to go with it.
What do you think about blending into the tops of the doors a tad?

My 53 Chrysler doors aren't blended. I guess DeSoto was the same. But I've owned early 50s Buicks. The ends of the dash and doors were blended real nice. Other GMs, too, I think. The Buick piece on the doors is removable and I think pretty easily adapted to other cars. If you thought about doing that.

Hmmm. I do have an extra door skin and a trunk lid and liner panel I could cut up to make them. It's just a matter of gluing bits together!

I agree! The blend into the doors is definitely the right move...

I like it a lot. I wouldn't mind seeing more pics of your wood bracing, how about the trunk?

Very nice. I have the exact same dash waiting for my Model A coupe. Scored it out of a boneyard for $50, gauges and all.

Brian, going back to this car you have proven in the past that thinking outside the norm has always proved you had the right idea! HRP

  24. Great touch! I love originality!

Years ago I went to the Seattle roadster show (when they still held it) and somebody with a wicked sense of something had put all the 'traditional' '32 Ford hi-boys in a row for display. All well-built cars, different owners, some detail differences, but so alike it looked like a showroom displaying your 'options'... 'Which color would you prefer sir? And wheel choice?'... LOLOL..

It's still early and not to in any way to take away from the design put forward by Bandit you could just carry the panel straight back parallel to the dash perhaps meeting and carrying onto the seat...

Just giving a second plausible option...great stuff going on in your playground @flynbrian48

Here’s what it looks like. There’s a 3” wide strip of wood bonded th the panel below the trunk, a 3/4” strip gl***ed into the top of the body at the back of the ****pit, and a 4” wide piece gl***ed to the catwalk panel. That is braced to to the top of the ****pit and the bulkhead as well.

Cool stuff, what fills the gap above the dash? Never had an A, not sure if there is something to modify or if you plan on making something.
