Went to visit my old friend David.... Back in the 60's we had flathead powered Ford hot rods. Pictures of mine powered with a v8 60 are lost and gone forever but I was glad to discover that he still had some of his.. a flathead with dual glasspaks, Wide Whites, 56 Olds spinner caps, a new red paint job & the wind in your hair... life was simple then.

We put on a goofy hats and went to cruise Weirs Beach.

I will see if Dave has any others.. or sharper images of what he sent me.
Pictures of my model a with the V8 60 are long gone but i do have some of my old roadster built by Curtis Hardy in the late 50s/early 60s. Back then in NH Norman Wallace in Dover set the high bar. In the mid to late 50s Rex Lambert & Larry Robbins had some nice rods from the Portsmouth NH area.

  4. Didn't know you knew Curt Hardy.I only met him once when I went with my cousin Dick Manley to find out some info about the car he had recently purchased(Norm Wallace's old 32)back in 1969.Curt filled him in on a lot of history on the car and then introduced us to Norm's widow. She was a very gracious lady and gave us the information on how Norm had traded off the roadster for a vintage biplane(the one he eventually died in).She also presented Dick with all of the trophies Norm had won with the car including the Best in Show at the 1958 Hartford Autorama. We used these in a tribute to Norm when Dick was showing the car in the early 1970's.I believe Larry Hook has them now as they went along with the car when Dick sold it in 1979.

Does anyone have an update of where the Norman Wallace roadster is nowadays? If it's still in New England I'd love to see it. My grandfather was Jean Dionne and he was the one that painted it at his Salmon Falls (Rollinsford), NH body shop. My dad still has the September '58 issue of Hot Rod that the car was on the cover of....which if anyone has any extra back issues of I'd love one!

My dad has great stories from the street scene back then, lots of street racing in the area back then. My dad talks a lot about how'd he roll his '56 chevy convertible in the shop on Friday night and back out on Sunday in another color......kept the local pd on their toes.
