Discovered this neat Website a few months back and am always interested in the more historic photos of cars and scenes from the 1930's through the late 1960's. Born in Los Angeles, we moved to Maine in the 1990's and retired 5 years ago to Eastern Tennessee. We hope to return to Maine at some point in the future. I don't own an old car (never have) but have a collection of Showroom Brochures on U.S. and Canadian cars from the late 1930's to current models. Also collect Promo Models from the 1950's through late 1960's. As you may have discovered from a few posts, I have an avid interest in the Mobilgas Economy Runs as well as the predecessor Gilmore Economy Runs and have ac***ulated a good collection of items from these events. Always looking for missing details on the Runs as well as any photographs, etc. Dave
Dave: Welcome from the West Coast of Florida. I have some friends from Florida and they all moved up in your area. Marysville, Masonville and the Swee****er area. They all say they love it and when they tell me about how much you pay in property tax I think I might love it to!!!! My one buddy told me his water bill is the minimum you can pay and when I asked what that amount was he said $12.00 dollars a month. I know the state sales tax is about 9 1/4 % but I like the idea of having a new home on a few acres and only paying $800.00 to $1,200 a year in taxes. I also love Maine because it's like taking a step back in time in some of the those small towns. Spent time in Maine in the early 60's and when I ask my cousin how it had changed after all these years his reply not much has changed. Gotta Love Maine. I never cared much for having to use the outhouse since they never had indoor plumbing. Each morning we went out to the well and pumped a pan full of ICE COLD Water and then washed up. Man when you through that cold water on your face that really would wake you up fast in the morning. Jimbo
