    Yes, senior moment :(

    Geez that's a clean motor...I'm jealous.

That sure is an early 303 block. I had to drill/tap those 2 holes for the very early dist I used. Later ones are one bolt like chevy etc

No, the one the motor was sitting on, has the square hole for the spring pack center bolt...so it's another crossmember.

Hey Dave, I'm liking the idea of painting the motor gold. It would look great with the maroon body color. My motor may be coming out tomorrow if Scott and I get that far. Just got the new motor mounts yesterday.
Willy...you better get wrenchin'. Keep us posted. Good Luck with the re-do !!!

Frank it has to be a 32 crossmember or a model A then it looks similar to the one the spring is mounted to.I have to go back and see your pics and mount to see if i am going to change mine as i said in a earlier post when i was at Alterboys i noticed the rubber under the mount was pushing out and split in half so i took a old race tire from the pile and cut a 4x6 piece out and folded it in half and drilled 2 holes and sandwiched it between mount and the crossmember worked good and cheap.

Brett (did i mess that up again :( ) The reason for gold is the color wont look all shiny and new, And kinda has a dark vintage look IMO ,also its the olds color motors later on. Let me know i am working tomorrow all day I got alot to do in a short time especially if i want to race you and frank :) Just let me know what you want to do Hope it all is going well.

Dave, The center stock Olds mount is simple and works. I'd go with that if it was my coupe. Mine was pain to make, but I could not find a way to use a stock center mount with my untrimmed 32 front crossmember.

Pat trust me Ik its what i do for a living..

OK SO HERE IT GOES I OPENED UP PADORAS BOX SO I AM GOING TO PUT IT ALL OUT HERE FOR YOU TO SEE! And Ik i had to.

Theres more pics of the chassis etc in my Albums and i will add for when i can. I have few of things i want to change on this car as i have said before IDK if i should so i will need some advice. So here are some pics of the ugly, bad, and then hopefvully the good :)

Notice the sectioned firewall, the rivets still in the front crossmember, and the torched bottom of the firewall as i said befroe the chop on this car is done very nice for being done between 53=58 But some of this other stuff is a little sketchy but i figure there was a 2nd owner after the car was built the 1st time and the 2nd owner was like most and didnt have the means to do it right but how right could it be pre 60??

My vote on the firewall? I would weld, patch or smooth the lower edges to keep fumes out of the car. Then paint it satin black...then tidy up the wiring. JMO

rear trans crossmember? Looks OK..? Mine came out of Ted's old 37 chevy coupe gasser, and was cut up and fish-plated...so I just changed it a bit to fit my center X.

I do now have an uncut one if you need it.

Frank I have to do something witn the firewall I been driving it wide open :) So yes i am not sure yet what i am going to do A hamber offered me the toe board from his 32 I believe it would be wood? The original wood floor is there and then someone put a nice steel top on it. Yes on the wireing as the positive cable from battery goes over the driveshaft and is rubbing on it.... I just got to find the time.

There is no rear tranny crossmember or mount just the ones on each side by the bell and one was broke :(

Mark I like it to its welded in good and shouldn`t break so its gonna stay cause if i start changing that stuff the car would loose it character right?

Also Frank notice the grille shell mounts they welded them under the frame to lower it and the way they did the channell is prettty good to for back in the day. I wish you could see the car up close escpecially before i change it..

looks like they just added a 35-40 ford front crossmember for the front motor mount, looks like the member that the spring is mounted to is just the stock one trimmed up and in the stock location still.

Titus I think your right about the 35-40. And your are correct the stock 32 hasn`t been removed just trimmed the rivets are still there so its stock.

Dave, some pics of a stock trans crossmember. A/T and stick should be the same I think. This one is A/T up next to a stick bell. I can measure total width if you want.

So yours is not full width? ...just 2 end pieces?

...did you measure for your rebore yet? just wonder how much it needs.

Thanks for pics Frank I think it`s a olds cross member but hacked up quiet a bit here`s a pic. It does have the 2 stock ones that bolt to the bell housing 1 was delamanated from the steel. I haven`t measured anything yet nor have i worked on it all finally getting busy @ the shop Time to catch up now.. I put up some more pics i dont know if i put these up yet i guess i shoulda checked

I didn`t measure it with the dial bore gauge yet, I did the finger nail gauge and i am 90% sure it will clean @ .030 over. I am going to sonic test it for shits and giggles but my luck i wont want to know lol. Mine was really rusty inside aswell i took 2lbs out after Hot tanking it....

I posted a pic of the center exhaust pipe this is a problem restriction not good for that flow and i need it :D Cant have a slow 32, eh what the hell it doesnt stop anyway

That darker gold would look great with any chrome or aluminum you have for the motor. I like it better than a weaker pale gold...but that's just my thoughts. I like it.

I just picked up a 32 wood toe board, the angled piece on lower firewall, if you need it for patterns?

How's Pennys 32 coming? That was a big project with front end swap and stick swap

are you saying the gold in pic?? Frank or another gold? i think this piece will work out good as i will cut the long piece for the shifter out and narrow the firewall (toe board area) as it has the right crown and angle and will meet up to the piece thats already there.

pennys is coming good but he has to let it sit for a couple weeks he and scott are busy.I am waiting for updates aswell :) dont forget me on them hubs frank. Do you still need the fan etc?

Yes, I like that gold on your pic. The darker gold like that valley cover, makes chrome and polished aluminum look really great.

We need to find out if the hubs will work for you somehow. They might be just 40 repro style. I will take pics today. And yes, I still need the fan :) ...and the 40 bits.. Can we hook up at Stafford swap? My kid will be selling there if he's back from a Fla vacation.
