I made a trip down to the Dawsonville Moonshine Festival today and wasn't disappointed. For those who haven't been yet,it is basically a street fair in a small north Georgia town with the added benefit of a huge car show. Here are a few of my favorites, its not a coincidence that they are all Fords! More pics to follow soon.

  3. Very cool. I haven't been in several years, unfortunately. I heard that they quite parking 40's around the courthouse. Did they still have the show down by the museum, or is that where you were?

The 40's and the shine haulers were parked just down the street from the court house on the main road that goes to the museum, the school parking lot is the Ford only area, and the museum parking lot is street rods, muscle cars, customs and everything else.

My o my, what a show for Ford Fanatics! First, the name Lucas Doolin pops into my head, then that Song shows up. Did you know "Big Bob" Mitchum sang " The Ballad of Thunder Road" in the movie?!

I went for the Swap Meet, and they didn’t have it this year. The cars were spread out all around the area and there were some real Hot Rods there as always. I enjoyed the car show, but I suspect it would have been bigger if the weather was better. I know it was not just a car show, but I think there were more foo-foo vendor tents than I have ever seen in one spot. The entry price for cars was $50.00 and parking was $10.00. I saw a lot of cars turn around and just park like we did.

  15. Well, hell. You just added to my bucket list. Awesome pics, thanks for sharing. Nice to see so many impressive 57-58's in one show...... Almost never happens, and for them actually to be posted in a Hamb thread. Huge Kudos!

The Mitchum version (the best version) was not in the movie but was released as record.

BTW...The "50 Ford that stole the show is actually a '51 with 49-50 front sheetmetal.

Took my 57 to a show a few years ago and registered as Robert Mitchum on the window info, some guy comes up and looks at my car and says 'Nice Car Bob".

  20. I have often wondered where all the '57 300 models went. Question answered. Great looking Ford show. Was Bill Elliot wandering around? Thanks for sharing.

  21. Thanks for the pics. We will be headed back to Dawsonville next year. We took 2018 off... It is still one of the best shows around. I did like it better when the cars were around the square in town. I also heard the show at the school is now an "All Ford" show and not Galaxies/Full Size Fords any longer?

Nice seeing those E-code 57 Customs. One show I'd really like to attend one day.

  26. Did they get the never ending traffic jam figured out yet? I gave up going a few years ago after sitting still for over a hour 20 min away trying to get there.

Traffic wasn't a problem at all, I came in from the north side on the Elliott Family Parkway. Traffic flowed much better than in years past, roundabouts have been added at some major cross roads.

  29. ................I must be naive or just uninformed, but what is the HMG? I'm sure it must be something obvious or at least something that I should be aware of.o_O:confused:
