I'm a little late in posting the pics, but here are some images from the first day of building on the Modified for the Jalopy Showdown yesterday. Clark's idea is 6 days of build and a $999 budget and on the 7th day we race. Made pretty good progress on Day 1. Will post pics and leave commentary to Clark or someone else, I'm headed back down for Day 2...
Great photos "Napster".....Clark........EASY on the back! Make your "bitches" do all the lifting and YOU be the brains...... Notice: Those "Hair Band" photos a few weeks ago have inspired a new crop to "sprout!!!!" ...just can't recognize "ScaryLarry" with hair........
right on... now if I get up there I want a ride in this one since you sold the other before I got one.. Lets see day two...
[ QUOTE ] Terrific pics! Looks like youse guys have your act together. Good Luck, Joel [/ QUOTE ] .....oh.......if you only knew.........
ahh, shit. looks like some fun AND some progress. hey CLARK, i'm stuck working, sorry i couldn't come over and help... tred.
Just getting back to add a little commentary... Day 1 was basically laying out and welding up the frame, putting together the front end which turned out to be a bigger project than expected and of course lots of mocking up. Clark (SoWhat) says the 999 Racer will get a hood to hide it's low budget 83 Dodge(?) 4 banger, but will have bumps and cutouts for the new pipes and carb. Legroom? It's tighter than a virgin midget in there. Seemed like lots of progress on Day 1, though. 5 more days of building. ~ Rob
First I gotta thank everybody that came over and helped Day1..MotorMikey, Sumo, Big Shooter, JohnnyLongHair, ScaryLarry, Nappy, Val, FatABone, Glasshole and my wife(she made lunch) Day2..Same as day 1 with OlScratch,onelow48, hotrodphotos and 46mopar. On Day one we did a lot of mocking up of things to figure out what we had to do. After figuring out the lenghts and widths we cut the frame rails I "borrowed" from Sumo. Then the rails were tacked to the frame table and a couple of crossmembers added. With the motor in place we figured we needed more leg room and decided to change the back of the cab and frame around a little. The back corners of the frame were thengthened a bit and rounded off. While we were working on the frame a couple of the guys got the front end together. Mikey and Sumo had fun playin with the torch to get the bones off of an old axle. All day long there were comodians goofing around making fun of American Chopper and Monster Garage. I had packing peanuts all over the one side of the shop and beer cans all over my yard. Day 2 . Motor mounts got made, floor boards got cut, the firewall was cut. The headers that were started on day one wer finished. We got the body mounted and reenforced with tubing. Hell we even got the drivers door to work. The back of the body was cut off and a tubing framework for the new backend made. Oh yeh plenty of antics again today. Todays theme was midgets (you had to be there).I think everybody had a ball. There's plenty more to do but I think we did good and we may just pull this off. Clark
You know, when Clark pulled that old rusty crusty body out of his yard I didn't think he was going to be able to pull it off, But when he reinforced it with some good steel tubing I was convinced he had a good idea
Skatefink...BigShooter was Paul Sr all weekend. DDR...the coupe is gonna take more than 6 days to build. Clark
