Well, I guess it's day 5.5 counting the 1/2 day on Mother's Day?
We fired up the beast for the first time although there are several things that need finished- gas and brake line plumbing, steering, interior, hood (maybe), radiator, etc. But we got a bunch of finish stuff done, got started on some of the things just mentioned, and put the thing together for real today.
Found a dead mouse in the Whippet radiator, managed to have some fun with Sue's decoys, Sumo lettered the thing, Britchered and Mikey patched the tank, really too much to mention so here are the progress pics...

Thanks. Clark's the ringmaster at this circus. Guess he's gonna put in some time finishing it up???
    We race this coming Saturday...
    at the Jalopy Showdown
We did start it briefly, dumping gas in the carb. After 5 plus days of thrashing, it's good to hear an engine run.

I didn't get home until 2AM...However, it was worth it. I even got to do some menial tasks like painting the front shocks and the center caps for the wheels. It probably looked like arts and crafts time at a school for the handicapped, but thats OK. Maybe I can apply for the "Mikey" of the So-What shop..? Also, there were alot of cups laying around..and BEER bottles.

See you guys next week. I want my tool box and CD's...

This was an awesome project. Brought alot of talented guys with cool ideas together for one goal. Now we get to beat the crap out of it on the race track. [IMG]

  16. Great work guys!

  17. What ever happened to day 4 or 4 1/2?????????

  18. Rat Rodder....Day 4 was mothers day and we only worked part of the day. We'll blame that on the work we have to finish up this week.

The motor was a freebie out of an 83 Ford Ranger. We have a wiring problem and it only runs when you have the key turned to start.

    Clark,
Is that one of those ford electronic boxes on the firewall for the Duraspark electronic ignition? If so, there is a red wire and a white wire to energized the box. One energizes the box at startup (it also retards the ignition) and the other energizes the box when running. I can't remember which was which, but remember getting bit by that on a ford V8 motor in the past.

  20. The 999 on the door just looks right.

    You guys are stallions.

    Clark,

Here's a link to a site with a decent description on how to wire the Duraspark ignition your using.
