If we ever finish the wagon , I've been saving parts for a speedster. Cheap and quick. I'm too old for any other way.

Dreams can become reality if you don't give up on them. I too have more than one unfinished project but it is more important to have the project than to finish it.

This is the first time in many years that I don't currently have a project or two in the garage,I still want to build another roadster but using common sense why not use what I already have on hand.

Chuck, believe me you will finish the wagon, remember it only took me a record nine years to finish ours,I needed a break from the shop and some play time but I am getting antsy to get out in the shop again and start some deconstruction.

I am going into this build with a goal in mind and that is a simple build and not investing a inordinate amount of time in accomplishing a finished ride, time will tell.HRP

Yep, always, since I have more unfinished than finished.
To top it off, I may be trading one project for another!
More tossing and turning, and spending valuable time daydreaming on how it could look.
    It's an illness!

Sounds like a good plan! I've barely started on my shoebox, but I've already got two others I want to do. I definitely want to do an early 60's F-100 (I would do a 390 instead of the 302, but that's just me) or fix up my parents' 1972 F-250. I also would like to do a Model A at some point. That'll all have to wait until I get a bigger garage or shop space, because I want to actually keep all of them.

I have also had 3- 67 to 72 body style f100s, I wouldn't have wanted a f250 at the time, back then, because maybe the 250s weren't sporty enough???, but today I have grown to like a lot of the old bigger, tougher utilitarian type work trucks, especially if they are restored or just fixed back up nice. I even sometimes find the f250s more interesting than the f100s, especially in the 67 to 72 years. The 72 is too new for this forum but Ive seen several of those old fords with campers on em,(camper specials?)push trucks etc floatin around the dragstrips etc. in old photos on here and elsewhere. The early 60s truck may be the green grass on the other side in your particular case since the one you have does also have family ties.

    Yes sir,I've always liked the '65-'66 F-100.

I had just got married and I saw the truck at a boat yard and wasn't looking for a truck but it caught my eye,I knew the owners son from high school so on a whim I went in and ask his dad was it for sale,he said no so I went on about my business.

The next day I got a call and they said it could be bought, the price was reasonable but I was 600 dollars short, that's what he wanted,my lifelong friend said don't let that truck get away and said lets go get the truck right now~

I said I don't have the money and he said I do,so I thought he was going to buy the truck,we got there and Rod pulled out 6 one hundred dollar bills and told me to sign the title.

I was able to reimburse him withing a few months , the truck means more to me today since Rod had a heart attack and passed away a few years ago.

In our younger years we put a lotta miles on that old truck and consumed a lotta beer working on and riding in the old pickup, every time I started talking about a new project he would always suggest dragging out spot.

I think he would be happy to see me get it back on the road,I know Brenda likes the idea and I told one of the twin girls I was thinking about resurrecting the old truck in the barn and she looked me in the eye and said, "SPOT?" :) HRP

Great story HRP, but you know the HAMB rules, photos prove that Spot exists. Bob

Bob,the only proof that I have on hand is this photo of a water color a old friend did years but it's all I can offer at the moment.

I will go through the big old wooden box full of photo's and get a few real photos, better yet tomorrow I'll stick the camera inside the barn and take a photo or two. HRP

Always day dreaming on the next improvement's for my rides, But the reality is, just keeping up with them keeps me pretty busy, "Nothing Happens Fast" is my reality now. Yesterday went to Iola (huge swap meet/show, a Wi. tradition) and took one of my OT rides and exhaust system dropped, (only 27 years old) removed and got there, no biggy fix, but in my world, another small project that will take me 5X/10X longer than it should. Sounds like you have a plan for your truck, Have at It !

It has been a long time since I ventured into the part of the barn where the truck is buried, actually I was shocked how much junk was piled up on and around it.

    Anyway,here's the photo's I promised. HRP

Danny you need to have a barn sale so you can dig her out. Having that truck hanging around in the barn sure would make it easier to get started. Joe

Sounds like you have a great plan for a worthy truck project. It also looks like you might need to get started on getting it dug out of the barn, that is going to take some time!

We have been driving my coupe for 5 years now. it works so well for us, I've had little desire to even seek another project, not to mention no money, no time, and no ambition.

From shortly after my big blue 50 Dodge 4x4 got wrecked, I've been telling my son I wanted to build a 39-47 Dodge pickup for a shop truck. There have been a lot of excuses as to why it hasn't happened, not being able to find a body to start with at a reasonable price, that was not 1/2 way across the country was my favorite (and most effective) excuse.
Last year, at the Jefferson Swap meet we came across a 47 Dodge cab, hood, grill shell and box sides. The project (which is a huge project) was fairly cheap, and my son had the money. Weakness overtook me, and the project now resides along the side of my driveway. Its an open canvas (read that as really rough, like all my projects seem to be), and I'm having conflicting desires on how to proceed. There is no frame, just body parts, and they are in pretty rough shape.
Part of me wants a beam axle, open wheel, small motor cruiser, but part of me wants to put some real power in that open wheel ride. Then there is the other side that wants to put that cab on a more modern chassis that I can drive anywhere, any time (like my coupe is), but that side can't decide if it should have fenders or not, and how carried away I should get with body work (needs a lot) and the finish.
My biggest issue is that if this is going to be a shop truck, its going to have to be a pretty quick build on a pretty tight budget, retirement isn't that far away anymore. Sometimes, having time to daydream can cause us problems. Gene

I on the other hand believe I've built my last car, got nine under my belt, losing the magic. But....because I'm a terrible carpenter, I believe I'll build a teardrop this winter, my carpentry non existent skills could use some refreshing, so that's where I'm headed.

So I see this on a thread by Sporty45 here on the HAMB and I say to myself I should bite the bullet and go take a look do I have the cash? NO! Will I find a good candidate when I do scrape the cash together probably not. Hell it's only about 900 miles away. Soo I decide to pass as if I tempt myself by driving to have a peek I'll darn sure be bringing it home. Probably be gone before I could get loaded up and under way any how. I am afraid you guys are right. but if any of you remember the wagon when it was extracted from the same barn it was probably just as bad. HRP

I don't remember the story about digging out the wagon, but you said its taken 9 years to build it, which means the truck has had at least 9 more years of accumulation around it, and might have even collected some of the stuff that was surrounding the wagon.

I believe that kind of stuff must grow roots the longer it sits, it seems to take a lot more effort to get stuff out as time goes on. Of course, your stuff might not grow roots like my stuff seems to do.
Maybe its time to get the grand kids (or neighbor hood kids) involved in clearing a path....Gene

After I finish my coupe I have small projects on my OT antiques. The 1910 Overland needs some trouble shooting work on the magneto, the 22 Buick needs starter work, the 28 model A needs steering and brake work, the 30 Chevy needs a rebuild on the steering box, and the 50 Chevy needs the front seat upholstered. I have too many things to do. Hard to find time to work on new stuff. It's a little overwhelming some times. I also have the parts to put together a model A speedster. I never understood how dad and gramps did it for so many years. Even 8 years after dad passed I still haven't figured it out. I feel bad for neglecting some of the collection. Hate to thin down the collection though.
