  1. Ditto on the patch Buzzard...!!!

The mph shows me that you increased your Horse power but your e.t. shows me that you were ice skating...!!!

Do you recall your 60 footers from last year compared to this year...?

Sounds like you and Ryan would have been a "Good Match" to watch.

    Addictive..., isn't it...?!?!?!?!;)

Thanks ric, you should have come up. I think I finally have the Aces and Eights mojo off the car. I found 6 cracked pistons. So it's got new Keith Black pistons with 6" rods. I'm definatly NOT trying to blame Billy for the pistons, but the car has never really been "right" since it came of there.

Mark, the car pulls hard through 6500-6700 rpm. I used to shift at 5300. It doesn't feel like its pulling harder in any one spot, but just more even all the way through the rpms. Plus, I fixed my shift rod!

My 60ft's were in the 2.2's, with my best being a 2.07. The 2.2's is about where I was last year. Last year I felt like I was rolling off the line, and had 3:55 open rear. This year I had 4:10's with a mini spool. I was launching harder, and it was leaving straight, but the times show I was probably not hooking any better.

What kinda 60fts should I expect with street tires?

  3. I guess that all depends on the track surface and whether or not you drive around the water for the burnout...!!!

You should never drive into the water box with treaded tires..., because the water tends to stay on in the tread through the Quarter mile...!

Water boxes are for "Real Slicks" and all others should drive around the box and do a "DRY Burn" before going to the line.

I've run 1.57's-1.68's using the Very Soft compound "Yokahoma's" (doesn't fit into the naostalgic parameters!!) with the track "prepped" with VHT adhesive for the Rails and Altereds...!

Also depends if the launch pad is concrete or asphalt and how much Base rubber was layed down before your run as well as your launch rpm..

Track temperature plays an important role as well..., as you know..., when the weather is "cool" the Horse power increases because of the specific gravity (Barametric pressure) but the traction coefficient suffers exponentually with your tire compounds in relation to the track conditions.

That's why the timeslips are soo important..., they litterally give you a history of each run and each segment of that slip will give you an indication where you could improve your driving..., your car and your component combination!

  4. Congrats to all the 100mph hotrods! Man was this weekend a blast!

  9. My best time was a 15 somthing. It was disappointing. If I had only won Race Fab's Cochran 327 at Mokan. That traction link was actually on Skot Ingram's 3window, not mine.

Rusty, I appreciate you and your dad talking to me about your rides. Man, they're sweet! I wasn't BSing when I told you a pic I took of the sedan from the Roundup is my background wallpaper at work. Whenever I'm in a bad mood, I just close everything down and stare at this pic for awhile:

Now to locate an A sedan shell and get to work!!

Wish I could have been there Buzz, but I was out of town. Did not make it in until last night. Also glad that you were able to excercise the bad mojo from your car. Not sure what went on with it when it was at "that" place. I will be there next year, as I am obtaining my new project soon. It will not leave MY garage until it is done, this time.. Great pics guys, they do make me wish I could have been there.
