What a PERFECT weekend! We rolled into casa del fatlucky around 6:00 PM friday evening... Took a quick spongebath and headed downtown to meet up with the rest of the rowdies! S. Congress was in full swing by 9:00. It was so good to hang out with everyone.... I took advantage of the Jack Dainels a little too much ! We crashed out sometime around 3-ish (I guess).. It rained like a son-of-a-bitch Friday night and was still lightly raining Sat morning at departure time... but, who cares... With fresh rain-x on the winshield, we headed north to Temple. Got to the strip around 11:00 AM and things did not look good weather-wise... Finally around 1:00 the clouds went away, the sun came out and it was ON! I was so excited to get my big fat turd on the strip and pull down some "turtle times"... We ran 3 rounds of time trials... I was consistantly running in the low 21's... So I set my time @ 21 even for the elimination rounds... I was taken out in the first round by Reggie's (hotwheel) flatty powered beauty... It was one hell of a race... He caught me at about the halfway point and then at about 55mph he started fading a little... I was catching up! I can't believe that my foot didn't go thru the floor! I was waving my fist out the window and practacally having a vertical seizure behind the wheel.... But alas, when whe crossed the finish line, Reggie had me beat by a second! I couldn't have lost to a better guy! I did not get too many pic's cause I was driving the car and waiting in line to race most of the time... My ol' lady managed to take a bunch of great shots.. and after Reggie kicked my ass, I took about another 50 or so shots... Here are a few to get this thing started... One of the funniest parts of Saturday was when we were all lined up to race I was in lane #1 behind Dusty (kartbreaker) and they were drawing cards for lane selection.... lanes 1 thru 4... anyway.. it took forever for the first lane #1 card to come up and every time the guy would draw another card off the deck and it wasn't a #1 card, I see the back of this helmet shaking back and forth and rolling around his shoulders... Dusty was sooo ready to tear shit up, it was killing him letting all of the cars in lanes 2-3 go by and line up... We eventually got to go didn't we Dusty? I was laughing my ass off all by myself! Anyway.. here's Dusty!
Everyone give Tyler a "hand" for winning first place this year!! And don't forget... Mr. Brian Bass took 2nd! It couldn't have been a better finish!!!!
I would like to thank all the ladies for riding and sweating all day in old piles (some without a roof) and putting up with our stupid car bullshit! Thanks ladies... I would like to thank everyone for comming out ( of the closet ). I had way to much fun but with all the racing I didn't get many pictures I was very proud of myself and Bass for stomping the compition. I pulled a good sike out against the Bonniville that has won the last two drags. Once again it was great to see my extended hotrod family and I hope I see you guys sooner than later. Tyler
HC, that race with you was classic! The great thing about running flatheads is that you can actually enjoy the folks in the grandstand. Camera bulb were poppin', people were screaming....way cool. Oh yeah, you shakin your fist at me...I was panic'd to death....I backed off the accellerator when I caught you. You must have pushed the Nitrous button 'cause you damn near accelerated past me. You had a better mile-n-hour than me! I did manage an 18.83 @ 74mph, breaking out against that Pon-titty-ac. I went thru the lights in 2nd gear. Not to bad for a flatty with a wimpy '32 rear end.

Man, I had an absolute blast at the drags this year. I still can't believe that Outlaw and I made it to the finals in the bracket racing. It was a REALLY close race...I ran a 14.51 on my 14.50 dial-in, and Outlaw ran a 15.73 on his 15.60 dial-in. But get this...he cut a .532 light! I lost on reaction time because he nailed the tree, and I had a .782 reaction time. If I would have had 10 more feet at the finish line I would have caught him because I was charging hard and he only got me by a fender. I think I shifted my 4 speed so hard on that last pass that I re-injured my right hand. The way I figure it we both won...so Congratulations Tyler! Anyway, I found out that I'm going to have to get some gears, a Posi, and probably slicks if I want to use my motor's full potential. I was spinning the tires just about all the way to the 1/8th on every pass...and after Hankcash took that pic of me and the Pontiac convertible above, I smoked the tires the entire length of the track on that pass...even got a little sideways a few times there. I should be in the 13's next year with no problem...we'll see. I gotta say thanks to Steve and the Kontinentals for putting together such a great weekend once again. And thanks to the guys that came all the way from California to the drags...It was good to see you guys again. I also have to mention that Jimmy White's hemi coupe ran a 12.82! Pretty damn impressive for its first time on a real strip. I didn't get to take any pictures on Saturday because I was too busy racing and having a good time, but here are a couple of snaps from Friday: I drove back today with these queers...I think we were having almost as much fun as the drags weaving in and out of traffic on I-35. Another thing worth mentioning is that (to my knowledge) nobody broke anything this year except for one of the Fuel Altereds. That's a first. Those of you that missed the Day of the Drags don't know what your missing...it really is one of the most fun and exciting car-related events around. I wish we didn't have to wait a year for the next one...I'm ready to do it again!
You guys better watch it, I had so much fun that I think next year I will build one of those hot rods and leave the FED at home! Now alls I gotta do is find a car, hummmmm...

we laughed...we cried.hit the bigest fucking bump in Texas...my radiator and fan got into a fight about 37 miles south of Dallas.,i lost.honkeytonker neil had to run me up to get the f150.ill fix it this week,so close,but yet so far.thought once i could go to Austin and keep keepin on.glad i got to hang out with all you fuckers.met some new guys.circle city guys rule.and of course just being close to Brian Bass is always nice.
I am sorry i missed out.. had too much going on this weekend with ther pileup next weekend... I will see some of you guys at roundup.. and i will be bringing a car to next years day-o-drags if it freaking kills me.. Ol Captain Fancy Pants will be in full effect. dang... looks like it was a blast.
Awesome weekend! I drank so much Jager, got to meet a buncha hamb super stars! What a drive home, Other than the Radiator on Dustys T exploxding, the Cops pulling him over, Getting two white trash thug wanna be's to "watch" his car etc.. It was the REAL deal! Oh and Bass's Hotrod is so dreamy.. Neal0o
