WOW, looks and sounds like you guys had an awesome time per usual. Thanks for sharing your photos. Almost makes me feel like I was there.
[ QUOTE ] Speaking of which I need some shots of Bass and mine cars ( on the line ) I need them by them selves. I'm framing the time slip with both of our pictures in it. [/ QUOTE ] Does it count if I splice two pictures together? I didn't get one of you two racing but did get one of each. I did get video of the final race. It's not that great because I was standing behind you guys when you took off. But still... I got better video of your other races. I forgot my tripod so it gets shaky at times.
What happened to the altered that tossed his cookies at the finish line? Did he get hurt? How bad was the damage. I meant to go see him and the car but got distracted.
[ QUOTE ] Please tell me yall were running the quarter mile and not the 1/8? [/ QUOTE ] quarter mile.
He was fine , Kerry, just a load of smoke from trenching number 8 piston. I think was a boost issue with his blower. I heard it whistling at the line but didn't feel it was my place to say anything but after that run he gave me permission to shut him down if I ever hear that again, hahaha, day late and a dollar or three hundred short. Clint lost a piston in his FED as well. Push rod guide migrated and things cascaded from there.I think the slick track and too much time running at the line did him in, just my guess. It was just an honor to get to hang with all those guys
Ran good times until I lined up against Stangmeister. I got psyched out by his burnouts. He owned me all day. My dang wife even left the club with him that night!
I just happend to snap a pic at the right moment... I can only assume that Bass is talking about his recent motorcycle crash....
That's Bass? Thought it was just some drunk with a huge beer stumbling down Congress. See how me and Krupa are keeping our distance.
Hey Buzzard..., Krupanut played the video of your 13.90 pass and it sounded Great...! I told him you'd be able to run tens if you could bring the shifts closer together... !!!! Sounded like this..., WHAAAAAAA...........................WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...............................WHAAAAAAAAAAAA........ Mark
Yeah, the car is there. I need to work on my driving a bit. I wasn't comfortable with it all day. I'm rebending that shift stick to a better position before I go out again. Hopefully, with some traction upgrades, race gas, and more practice, I can run 12's. A 12 second street car would be awesome.
...Catch a wave and you're sittin' on top of the world... hahaha I think it was just that the huge (Marty-size ) Miller High Life was weighing me down. "It's the Champagne of Beers" you know.
Great pics and sounds like a lot of fun, wish it was closer and I could have been there. Buzzard, race gas won't make any difference unless you have an engine that actually needs it. Just run the same pump gas as you run on the street, unless you have pinging problems.

"It's the Champagne of Beers" you know. [/ QUOTE ] Man, Marty (voneyeball) laid one of those Miller big-gulps on me at the strip. I told him damn that should last me a while. "What do mean?" he says, "It's only ONE beer."
Really? No pingin. Just seems like the higher octane would help any engine burn better, without all the crud you get in pump gas. It would be interesting to explore this in another post at some point. Not that I don't believe you. It'd be cool to see if guys actually had timeslips showing better, or the same, times with and without race gas.
rippin style holmes hey buzzard your car is one of my farovites i cant wait to frame the pics of us running side by side did anyone take a pic of my brother and i racing after the bass and tyler showdown?

[/ QUOTE ] That was a hell of a race!!!! It be great if someone got a pic of the board with the ET's closest race of the day. I could'nt stop laughing when y'all went by the stands shaking your fist's at each other.
Besides the all flatty match with HC, my buddy, Randy Pimpler, and I had a huge Duel going on. We were wanting to claim the title as the fastest, gennie ford steel, 3W coupe (I think that narrows it enough) in Round Rock, Tx. We both were running flat-motors....mine a bit warmed up, his a stocker. Both had '39 trannies....but mine, a pityfully designed '32 rear and his, a much improved '34 rear. He was able to launch hard, but I had to launch like I was driving on snow (had that rear end apart 3 times in the last year). Unfortunately, neither of us could claim the title. I won the first race...coming from behind to catch him at the lights...and he out-drove me and spanked me on the second race. We'll try it again next year......anyhow here are a few pics. Check out the "race ready" elbows.
Very good news about the altered. Flattop Bob thought he saw parts leaving the car. Glad it wasn't so. Pretty exciting at any rate. I thought the track was slick for me. I can't imagine what the guys with some real horsepower were dealing with off the line.
