A picture of old tin archiologist, Randy Pimpler and our Local Hero, Olin "The Guru" Tiemann. Olan brought out his '32 5-window that was an NHRA national record holder in 1958. He made a few passes with the car...it is exactly like it was then...still has 1/2 thick boiler plate for the panel below the decklid and still running the '58 vette motor connected to a '39 zephyr geared ford toploader. Heck, he even wore his NHRA shirt from the early 1960's.
Cool! Wish I could have been there! How fast did ElPolacko's pickup run?? Did Roothog make it out? Sam.
Sam, EL P's pickup couldn't find traction anywhere on the quarter mile. Made for some pretty cool sideways, tire boilin' passes....not sure what kind of times it ran, but it sure sounded healthy! This is seriously the slipperiest (is that a word?) track I've ever been on...I think just about everybody felt that way. But it was still fun!
Can't wait till next year. Sound like yall had a blast. That track usually hooks up good I don't know why it was slippery. Thanks for sharing the pics.
HC, I feel ya man. The car launched straight and hard....no traction issues here. I got the biggest chuckle everytime the starters would try and position me in the burnout box. I'd rev the flatty up.....way up..... and then just gently ease to the staging area. WisTexan...I didn't get a single shot of Olin's car....hopefully somebody got the dark primer gray coupe going down the track. I think he ran a high 13 in the low 90's
I saw everybody having traction issues and decided I wouldn't even bother seriously though, you wagon guys are in trouble next year..(like you haven't heard that before)...i mean it this time...really
I had a good time Sat at the track. It looks like I missed a better time that night. Look at those pics of Bass. Classics already. I hope no one got the funk I had. My daughter had it Fri.When I got home Sun the rest of my family had it. I wish it on no one. I drove around looking for a hotel to stay in. Everything was booked. I finally found a room at the Value Inn on 35.I'm convinced this place was run by the Iraq underground but I just had to lay down. I puked twice in my car. It was'nt pretty.I left early sun to go home. I hope the next trip is better. I'm bummed I did'nt get to meet J. White but did get to check out his cars. Ever since I saw his coupe in HRDelux there had been some things I wanted to ask him about it. Looking forward to the next event. I know Bass was sweating it when he had to run the wagon.
I don't think I could be more bummed than I am right now. First I sell the Rivi - hated to do that - then I get the worst flu I could have ever imagined last week. 103 degree fever - vomit - can't breathe - of course it hit me like a ton of bricks right before the Drags. I swear I am going to take vitamin C or whatever else I need every day for the next 363 days just so I can make sure I don't miss the Drags next year. Looks like everyone had a blast.
Is Von Eyeball's wife named Megan??? If so, I know her, she looks like someone I used to know, has a brother named Eric Hughes..... ?? Small world if it's true...

Reggie, Can't wait 'til I see Carroll again. " Carroll, I hate to bear bad news, we been friends for over 40 years, so I feel obligated to tell you this. Your son Randy is running with a bad crowd, saw him Satudrday out drag racing, running with Mrs. Hill's kid Reggie. Worst part he done stripped the fenders & running boards off his 34. Good news was he was holding his own against Reggie's 32." Randy was having a ball!
Man I tell ya, you guy's really picked a cool place to run at. That track has a nice old time look to it. Sometimes it does a person good to go back to their roots. Looks like everyone had a great time. later plmczy
I know what cha mean about bein bummed Jasonic! I was going over to meet my Dad saturday morning to get his 1960s Bell helmet when my 23 T died at a red light. I go to push it to the side of the road and its starts rollin a little faster than expected and I tried to jump in and the damn rear tire catches my leg and bends ita way its not suppose to bend! I end up with my knee blown out and on crutches! Oh well, I officially challenge you to a race..next year!
Boom Boom that sucks. I just figured you were at Goodguys. No, really we figured the combo of the rain and the roadster kept you away.
