it was awesome. weather sucked on the drive out and i thought the whole thing would be washed out but it stayed nice and cool all day.

i will take the win over 67impwagon, it was well savored. just wasnt his day, next year is the re-match for us and bass/ric sorry the tranny blew.

i was running the tan coupe when he went south, i kept waiting for him to ping pong into me but i givee him props for taking the rail. all things considered it should have been a lot worse, but he will be driving in a week. the dragnfly kicks ass. evil coupe, must be seen in person.

    round up next!

Did you get any video of Laura in the black merc? She's really exited to see pictures or video of her car going down the track. I think she is hooked.

Saw Kati yesterday. She has the black and red merc. There are definate plans for upgrades to her car as well. Looks like another grudge match in the making.

That thing that being used as a wheel chock is my driveshaft. If you look closely you'll see about a foot-long section of my transmission's output shaft sticking out of the yoke. It snapped it off so cleanly it looks like it was cut on a lathe.

And here's the fancy tow vehicle: [IMG]

I don't know if i got her....I haven't looked at the whole session yet....very cool she's hooked - she tore it up all day!
there was a guy on the far side of the strip up in the stands that videoed all of it with a tripod...wonder if anyone knows who he was?

Bass - that blew..i've got a 49 merc driveshaft i'll never use if you need it....

Cars I'd like to see make runs next year:

    1. MY CAR
    2. the Evil Ford Coupe (a real run)
    3. Dragon Fly (a real run)
    4. Ryan's Coupe
    5. Kustom 55's Pontiac
    6. Skulker's truck (where was he this year?)
    7. Angieotica (unlikely)
    8. The Outkasts '55
    9. Aces and Eights secret project

Which ones am I missing that need to be there?

so is this a challenge, see who builds a car in a year.

I know sounds like plenty of time, but I can't even afford to pay attention.

I wasn't even gonna bring up the Buick running. I almost put Mrs. 62buford on the list, but I figured I'd given you enough grief. Beef up the drivetrain and let her launch it.

    Unless you're skeered.

I hear you! I feel like I have a pile of parts that need to just be put together, but in reality, everything needs work, and everything needs time, money, tools and workspace!

However, I usually work better when there is a challenge to live up to!

Passing tech next year is a tall order. But you are looking for a challenge. Pass tech and break 20 seconds and I'll buy you a Lone Star.

At least freakin' show up next year!

  25. Building a hot rod in a year is doable. I was able to hack my '30 Hemi-powered coupe together in just under 6 months. So no excuses!!! Let's get more hotrods on the road!!!

Didn't Mercury Charlie build his T in 30 days to have it ready for the LSRU last March..?

HOTWHEEL - I didn't get a chance to say HEY at the drags, but we talked for while outside the CC on Friday night - you gave a pretty convincing sales pitch for the 5-inch chop (!). Just wanted to say that it was good talking to you, and your coupe is the shiznit!

BUZZARD - I ain't skeered.. I figure if she beats me I'll just remind everybody that I built the car... that's what Charlie did! [IMG]

Its been a crazy last week here trying to get the coupe drivable. Outlaw said it couldnt be done, and Whitneye asked me when everyone was out of sight, "Do you think you can do it?" I even wagered a bet to Outlaw, one month pay. He declined and Whitneye yelled at me for even bringing it up. Looking back at the late nights, and problems with nearly everything, I could not have done it in this amount of time on my own.......I owe a BIG THANKS to:

Reggie(Hotwheel)- He must have wired up explosives or something during his life, because he made a fuse panel, and a wiring diagram to go with it for my car, he even laid the wiring. EVERYTHING worked the very 1st time.

Travis(Travis) from Sacramento, flew in to be at the drags. He needed some R&R from family life and two jobs. Travis had the fun task of fixing every brake line leak from all the T-fittings.

Marty(voneyeball) Came to see the shop and somehow got suckered into working on the car too. Two metal circles for my gauges and 5 hours later, he had my gauges in the dash. His handcrafted metal work is second to none!

Jerry(Koolkat) showed up and watched us. Next thing I know all the tools and parts that had once been ALL OVER the shop, were neatly organized on the bench. Machinists are a strange breed I tell you. Once finished with that long task, he made sure all the fluids were level. From the QC to the radiator...the small things that could have surely been missed at the late hour on Friday.

and Finally Outlaw(Tyler). He will leave Krista at home for days to work on a car. NO MATTER WHO IT IS!!! She is one great gal. If she doesnt leave him when we build his roadster, he needs to get a ring on her finger!! Tyler does all the little detail work, like making sure everything is adjusted properly or making a big deal about how I didnt tighten something down. He is the guy that stays long after and gives 200%.

Once again, a BIG THANK YOU to you all...I am OK with only being able to make a slow pass....next year it will be ready to smoke the tires past the stands!!!

As it stands, Mercury Charlie is the reigning "King of the Kontinentals" with his mid 13's T. Congrats to him for a cool ride that really goes.

I do have a strong feeling that the Evil Ford Coupe will destroy that record. That coupe is probably capable of smokin' 'em past the grandstand. It it hooks up, and stay straight, it'll be really quick. Maybe heir to the crown?

but there's somethin' brewin' in Bracken.....
